I got a call yesterday and lil M has finaly been admitted to the Kindergarten readiness program in our school district! I am really happy and he is so excited.
He will be going M,W,F for about 3 hours.
I am just wondering what tips you have for preparing him and his teacher when it comes to communication delays?
He has a profound phonological delay (and some motor planning issues that are less and less since therapy).
I just don't want him coming home frustrated because nobody understands him.....

Is it a special needs program or an inclusive one?
Have you worked on basic signs with him?
Signs worked out really well before C had any real language ability. When he was 2-3 he was assessed at the 8-12 month old level.
Its so frustrating to feel like your child has something to say but not the ability to say it.
Early intervention programs like that are used to and well prepared for children with developmental delays. If I were you I would just set up an appt to goin and discuss your concerns with the teaching team befoer he enters the program.
