For me, I signed up in December 2003. A fellow GM pointed me to this site to deal with my unplanned pregnancy and receive support. I was a college student then and still am now, though I graduate this December. I have grown a lot by being a mom but also through the people I have met- both IRL and here at GM. Needless to say, I am always a work in progress! Still with same SO, have a two year old now, finally attempting with minor successes to access and unlearn some of my biases.

i had a three year old, had just bought my house, had a shitty ass job, chris and i had called it quits, i quit school.

haha, im a hella lot older for sure! almost done with school, mother to a first grader....
Geez... well I guess I joined in like May 2004 but I don't remember posting much until the summer of 2004. My mom actually found the site for me. I was pregnant at the time. My life is way different now, I'm in college, not with bd, and all around happier and more confident in my life and my goals! And I have a 2 year old... cant forget that :D
mmmm to be honest i dont remember when i signed up. i think it was the beginning of 2004. like FEburary. i was about 4 months pregnant and living with my mom and not with my BD. i havent changed to much. just now with my SO and pregnant with #2.

I'm stronger and wiser, but I'm still weak in some areas.

I was still in high school and really wanting to ttc, but I hadnt started trying yet.

I am in college now, and Im pregnant. I have unlearned a lot of things since coming to gm, but I am still the same in that I still dont know what it COMPLETELY means to be a mom yet.

**what was going on in your life then?
At the time I was a single mama to a 4 yr old and in a relationship with my now DH. I had just gotten the best job and was finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
**How are you different and how are you the same as then?
Well, I am a lot more educated for one thing. Plus, I have two more kids and a DH now. Oh, and I am a SAHM/work p/t.
I have done a lot of growing since then. I was 21 and still liked to party all the time. Now, I am very settled.

I was with Jaydens father and a while after that is when he left. I didnt have much going on.

I am different because I have unlearned alot of information since coming to girlmom. I became education about womens reproductive rights and feminism. I do not think im the same at all. I have had to grow up alot and now im back in college as to back then I was just working. I think Im stronger now.

I've learned so much about women's stuff, race, cultural appropriation. I was of course, a feminist, pro-choice, anti-racism, etc when I first joined, but I definately learned a great deal more and I unlearned many things, still do ...
I dumped BD YES! and i am so much happier without him ... everyone here helped a great deal with that situation. My kid is 5, getting ready for kindergarten next year ... I'm 24 ... I feel so old.
I probably signed up about a year ago. I was in the midst of some pretty intense post partum depression that I wasn't really ready to admit to at all (or if I did, I'd gloss over it). I was having anxiety attacks pretty regularly and having a hard time functioning. I was also staying home full time with my son, and nannying part time for another baby his age. I had just moved to Austin and didn't really know anybody in the city. Mostly what has changed is that I am so much happier now. I still have some lingering anxiety sometimes, but I am really through most of it. I am back in school, and loving my classes. I feel a lot more settled in the city. I also feel like I've really learned alot since then: from being a parent, from girlmom, even from my depression. My baby now says words, gives kisses, climbs up slides and then slides down, and is (as he's always been) absolutely incredible.
I started lurking around Sept of 2002, I was pregnant and alone but too nervous, I miscarried a few months into it but still read. I signed up March 2003 when I got pregnant w/ Trey.
I joined a little over a year ago. I was a jr. in High school and i was going thru a pregnancy scare (back when they where "scares") Now I'm engaged, the pregnancy scares are more liie "pregnancy--oo! maybe!'s" and we're moving an hour away :(

I signed up in spring 2003...don't remember the exact month. I was in college and my daughter was a few months old. I reconnected with a high school friend who happened to have a baby exactly 2 months younger than mine! Niether of us had known the other was pregnant...it was quite strange. She pointed me out to girl-mom and I've been here off and on ever since. Her screen name was Gemma, but that was on the old boards. I know there is a different person with that screen name now.
i joined exactly a year ago today. I was 7 months pregnant ,i was living in the house that lydia was born in - with BD and my brother ( worst roomates ever) I was working my ass off at Subway everyday at 6am to ensure that get my maternity leave because BD refused to work. I was in school partime too. and very depressed and very lonely. Girl-mom was like seriously the most comforting space. just reading and learning from all of you.
I dont think my first post was until after lydia was born and i was considering leaving Josh. and i felt so supported in my concerns by everyone. i'm so glad ot be part of this forum.

I was in an abusive relationship with a loser and I was a mother to a 1 year old baby girl and a 2 yr old baby boy!!
I am now happily married, have a great job and I am the mother to a great 6 year old boy and a beautiful 5 year old girl both are going to be in school in a couple of months I feel great and I know I dont post that often at Girlmom but I do love this place and thankyou eventhough I havent had that many posts of my own I do really benefit from reading others :)

i joined on april 04 2006 what was going with me is that i was about 6 month pregnant and i read the stories on the forum and just fell in love with the site and i changed ina way that am more mature and now that am a new mom i've learnt so much and wanting to learn more
I joined a couple of months before the Mama Gathering 2003! Man, those were the days. Isn't it funny how a few years after something we tend to look back and say things like that? LoL! I wonder if/when/where they're going to have a Mama Gathering at this year? Someone should organize to have it here in Las Vegas! :)

then i was going to school, waitressing, and with BD. had just moved home and my parents were still adjusting to me living at home and then me being pregnant.
now i'm a single mama, divorced, i work full time as a social worker and pt as a bartender. DS is three. wow. i still live with my parents... hahaha. i'm done with school and started my masters... im a lot more knowledgable about things and a lot more wiser about life...
