Background Info:
In December Chloe had 3 Seizures, Christmas was spent in the ER and Riley Children's Hospital and she had MANY tests run (CT scan, MRI, EEG, Blood tests, x-rays, anything you can think of) and they determined that she was healthy, just that she had seizures (the only abnormal thing was her EEG which showed spikes, indicating she was in fact having seizures.) Since then we've had to give her medication twice daily (a royal pain). Wednesday she went back to Riley and had another EEG, I called about the results yesturday and finally got an answer today.
The Great Part:
NO MORE ABNORMAL SPIKES! Which means NO MORE MEDS! She needs to be weaned off it (or else it'd cause a seizure, go figure) so or one more month she'll be getting it. For 2 weeks we are to give her 15 mg of Phenolbarbitol 2 times daily, then for another 2 weeks 15 mg once a day, and then NOTHING! I'm SO thrilled. If she had spikes, we were going to have to wait another 6 months beffore she'd be retested. So yay Chloe! :D
That's awesome! I'm glad she's healthy. Do they know why she was having sesures (sp?) ?
Nope. I had them when I was a baby (as did my mom, uncle, cousin..) and pretty much did the same thing, I was on meds then weaned off and have never had a problem since but I wasn't taken off until I was 2. I wish I knew exactly WHAT was causing them, but they don't know and don't seem to care as long as they can stop them.
