i did have problems with image issues too. still do to some extent. helping my kid build healthier ideas about himself than i had is very therapeutic. it's helping but it's a slow trip.
My kids have all gone through the stage of exploring themselves (ok, well they all still do it...the older ones are just a little more private about it).
My little guy is ALWAYS playing with his penis when I change his diaper, and walks around half the time with his hand down his pants :? . We do the same thing here as a pp, tell them that it's private and they do that in the bathroom or in their bedroom when they are all by themselves.

I do the same thing - tell em it's private and to only do it in private. My parents never explained SHIT to me so I hid in a shroud of secrecy and shame. I think kids need to be aware that it's natural. Alexis' school is teaching kids about privates and how they should be covered and no one else should touch them... but at the same time they are teaching HER not to touch... she goes to a Catholic school. Masturbation is a sin or some shit. I don't agree with THAT at all. That's just making kids feel the way that I did. Religion can be great in some ways for developing minds... but some things need an update, for sure.
