Ok, I am quitting my job and i have jury duty today & tomorrow and can't get ahold of my HR guy so I am emailing him. (Robert is HR, Ana is my boss) I am trying to work with them but I have serious daycare issues. I did not tell them about my son coming home bruised up with handprints (see my LJ), but everything I say is true, and I have made my boss aware of the situation several times over the last couple months. Please tell me what you think:
Hello Robert,
Although I am not sure if this is the best way to communicate, I am on call for Jury Duty selection in Auburn (I can check my email & messages during breaks) and I would like to have this conversation in writing for my records anyway.
I know that I have made Ana aware of my childcare issues, but as the situation worsens I feel I need to inform you.
In March my babysitter informed me that she was planning to move to Iowa sometime in the future. We started to casually look for a replacement.
Then in May she let us know that they had found a home in Iowa and would be moving on June 11th. So, we put our search into high gear.
Having no family or friends in the area had made it a little difficult but we managed to find someone at the last minute. Unfortunately, the Friday before my boys were supposed to start daycare, the new provider told us that she was now selling a product called âMelalucaâ and making enough money to not do daycare anymore. So, she would not be taking our boys. She recommended two people, both of whom could take my oldest but not the youngest because they had their limit of infants already. I have even put flyers up and posted ads on message boards and I feel that we have exhausted all of our options at this point. I literally have no where to take my baby while I work.
I am not sure if these are options that are available to me but if possible I would like to request a shift change (to nights after 4:00pm) or a Leave of Absence.
I would love to keep my employment with Sysco if at all possible. If it does not look like this is an option please let me know as soon as possible.
Thank you for your help

I think that well described it. Especially if you can't get a hold of him it is better then not doing anything at all. Make sure to atleast keep trying to call them. You left messages right? Good Luck! I hope everything works out. :)
I left a message yesterday and he called back while I was in the shower today but I couldn't get a hold of him again. I feel bad. I hate disapointing people! I feel like I'm going to be in some kind of trouble.
trouble? No not trouble(atleast not legally). I don't think your disappointing them especially if they know on what is going on. Send that and make sure to leave a message and try calling him and her ASAP tomorrow..... I work and I am pregnant and whenever I feel sick or tired and really need to go home my work is very flexible with me.... I hope it works out.
I think that sounds like a great letter- it explanes the situation without going into to much detale.
I think you did a great job with that email. I'm not sure what advice you're looking for from us. I kind of snapped to attention when I heard she was selling Melaleuca products, because I used to do that, and it does not last. You have to constantly be working ALL the time, or you don't make much money at all. I never got a paycheck over $60.00/month. Maybe if her's falls through, you'd be able to get her to watch your kids again.
