when do u have to stop eatin cheese when ur pregnant? can u still eat macaroni cheese my fc gives it me all the time!
You can eat cheese when your pregnant. There are certain kinds or cheese to stay away from though which are:
You can still have your chedder, motzerella, and jack cheese. You can eat the shredded and block cheese while pregnant. Just stay away from those cheeses I listed above.
what cheese is in macaroni cheese
You can eat macaroni and cheese. It's usually cheddar cheese. You can eat all hard cheeses, it's only the soft cheeses Momx4 listed that can be harmful. If you eat homemade mac and cheese it will usually be sharp and mild cheddar cheeses which are ok, and if you eat boxed mac and cheese like Kraft or storebrand they are also cheddar. It is also ok to eat Velvetta mac and cheese while you are pregnant.
If you get on WIC when you are pregnant they will give you a list of cheeses you can buy with your vouchers and all of those are safe cheeses. Cheese is good for you and a great way to get calcium and protien while you are pregnant - homemade mac and cheese will give you more than the box kind.
ok SC WIC lists these cheeses as ok and safe to buy while pregnant:
Cheddar (sharp, medium, or mild)
okay thank u
I craved cheese all throughout my first pregnancy. I ate dessert cheeses day and night. I had about 8lbs of pure cheese on me by the end of my pregnancy.
i loved cheese throughout my pregnancy too... well not the first trimester i was way to sick!! figures that was when i was in wisconsin!! hehehe... but it is oh good cheese comes from happy cows, and happy cows come from california!! :D
The problem in not soft cheese necessarily, but unpasturized cheeses like brie, many mexican cheeses (the ones sold in the deli type areas namely, rather than the packaged ones), and so on.
I had no problem staying away from the soft cheeses because I didn't really like them. I had cheese almost everyday when I was pregnant.
what if you do eat those cheeses that you arent supposed to? I think i might have eaten brie once or twice
Here is some stuff I found on google ~
The Food and Drug Administration as well as the professionals in the medical field always caution expecting Moms against eating soft cheeses and certain deli meats. The reason being certain foods can become contaminated with bacteria called Listeria. . If you become sick from Listeria, the baby you're carrying could get sick or worse case scenario âit could be fatal. To protect your unborn baby, eat hard cheeses instead of soft cheeses and thoroughly cooked meats while you are pregnant.
The soft cheese made in the US are usually okay because they are made from pasteurized milk (pasteurization kills the Listeria organism.) Imported soft cheeses are usually best to avoid. Here is a short list of soft cheeses to avoid:
feta (goat cheese)
blue-veined cheeses, like Roquefort
Symptoms of a bacterial infection can develop from 2 to 30 days after you eat contaminated food. If the infection spreads to your unborn baby, you could start early labor.
To prevent infection, take these precautions:
Eat hard cheeses, like cheddar, instead of soft cheeses during pregnancy.
If you do use soft cheeses during pregnancy, cook them until they are boiling (bubbling).
Make sure the labels of your dairy products say "pasteurized" on the label.
Listeria has been blamed for 2,500 illnesses and 500 deaths a year, and CSPI estimates 1/3 of the deaths involve pregnant women and their fetuses.
Please be very careful about the food you eat, and talk to your physician about the risks of food and food handling and preparation.
I craved cheese a lot while I was pregnant with Raegan, but b/c I'm a vegan I just ate that nasty soy imitation cheese, lol.
