OMG! I am just the happiest person alive right now. You have no idea. Well we are living with my mom right now so we can save up to get our own apartment and well we werent going to have much to spend on furniture... Anyways I did my taxes last night and I am get baout 5,000 back from state and federal!! I almost shit my pants when my mom told me!! I dont want to seem like I am bragging but I am soo happy i want to cry.
I can move into an apartment and actually buy furniture.

did you get that thing where you are a low income family with a kid? I cant file for that b/c my mom claims me cuz i am on her insurance :evil: well anyway yay for you! I am so glad that you are gonna be able to move out it must feel so good!
My mom CAN not claim me anymore, that's why!! I finally claim myself and andrew...

You can still file taxes if your parents claim you, you just can't get EIC and you won't get as much. But it's still worth a few extra bucks.
Under the tax laws if YOU provide 50% of you and your child's income and maintance, than your parents can not claim you and your child. Even if they have you on their insurance and you live with them...
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had a job. I was 16-17 at the time. After she was born and tax time came, I took my W-2 to file. I was all like "Yeah, I live with my dad and I get food stamps, medicaide, ect." The women asked me a lot of questions about who took care of my daughter and what bills I did have. In the end she showed me this information from the IRS about young single mothers and how in meeting certin critia, they are not claimable by their parents.....

wow i totally know what you mean. i did my tax's and i got 3,600 dollars back! i was so excited i couldnt sit still. i also had to two tax exemptions so i didnt pay alot in. so it was great. this is my first time filing so i was shocked. how did you get so much back? you must have paid in alot.
I paid like $2300 in. Plus I get the EIC and Child Credit.
Don't you just love it when you get back more money than you thought you were?
