Politics *possible abuse trigger*

It's simply amazing to me how two-faced politics is. In my mind, I know it's always been this way, but it never fails to surprise.

"Fifteen years after brain damage put Terri Schiavo in a persistent vegetative state, the Florida Department of Children and Families went to excruciating lengths to block the removal of a feeding tube that was sustaining her. Fifteen days after a toddler was beaten nearly to death despite DCF cataloging numerous alarming signs of abuse, the agency began seeking a Do-Not-Resuscitate order for her.

"I thought she would potentially live in a vegetative state," DCF's chief medical director told The Post two months after examining 2-year-old Moesha Sylencieux on Jan. 26, 2001.

So what are you outraged about? Is it that you wish them to keep her alive, or that you angry they didn’t come to her aid sooner?

I think she's outraged about the inconsistency. If there was genuine concern, like was professed during the Shiavo case, it would have been likewise for this toddler. However, it isn't. Thus, it's not the lives of individuals that matter to politicians, but rather what will win them votes.

I think her post is pretty clear - esp. when she mentions politics as being 'two-faced".

Okay, calm down revolt, don't bring your resentment of me into this...it was a simple question. No more.

Revolt's right.. I was upset with the inconsistency.

hailey - she wasn't being snotty, you asked a question, she answered it.

As for the OP - Most politicians are inconsistant. They say what they know will please the public most at a certain time. If you look back into what many politicians have said over the years, there is always a lot of inconsistancy, flip flopping, and two faced-ed-ness.

I'm confused about the hostility towards Revolt...she, too, was stating that the post was pretty clear. Nothing more, nothing less.

That being said, I think this is such a sad story. Living in America isn't always something to be proud of. I suggest that you write the director a letter, asking why they took the actions they said and express your views!

Wow, I didn't even see this.
Hailey, I'm sorry that you think that I've formed some negative opinion about you. But, I don't even consider myself to really be involved in this thread, I was just clarifying for the OP because I didn't see what you were confused about.

Maybe you could try to get to know all of us a little better, by navigating through the rest of the site, rather than in just this forum?
