bath or shower?

My kids ahve always taken baths, but last weekend, i was away abd their step-dad/my bf gave them showers. They really liked it and want to continue. Should I let them shower, or make them get back in the bath?

I love it when Alexander takes a shower. It's so fast!! If he didn't get a bath at night, I'll give him a quick shower in the morning. With a poof in hand, a complete shower can be done in about 3 minutes!!!

Of course, bath time is a playtime ritual for my boy, but it's not always feasible. Showers are great timesavers!!

I think it definately depends on the age. Hailey is only 1, and we stayed at my BDs house for a week with her, and they only have a shower. So everytime I needed to clean her, I'd have to get naked and in there with her, usually holding her up to the faucet to rinse her, and we were both slippery and eventually I had BD come in too to help, and it was just bad.
But if they are old enough to do a lot themselves(so you only have to stand outside, or get in and help a bit, but not hold them per se) then I'd say go for it. It will get them just as clean, probably faster, and its a novelty. They pay actually go back to baths once the "fun" of showers wears off. Besides, most adults take showers anyway, so they could just be starting early :)

Jess likes baths but sometimes she will insist on climbing in the shower with me. Your kis are big enough that if they wanna take showers it should be fine if it is ok with you. Just gotta watch em ... or if you would rather them take a bath, maybe you could give them showers as something special if they have a really good day or something.

I gave Cheyanne one shower and that was very difficult she wiggled every which way and I almost dropped her. I had to do that because we were staying at my unlce's house and thats all he had but I like to give her baths so much easier and I don't have the fear that I will drop her. If your kids are old enough and feel comforable than why not let them take showers, just stand out the door and when they want to get out help them so they don't slip. I think it is only a phase that they will get tired of and go back to baths.

sometimes when i need to bathe and it is just me and brayden home i take him in there with me. the first two times we showered. he seemed ok with it. but the 3rd time he freaked and cried. so we took a bath last time. but us bathing together is a very uncommon thing anyways.

Destiny always took baths alone, showers with me.....until she was about 3 1/2 or 4 years old........now shes almost 6 and shes been taking showers (alone) for like a year or so....shes 6 1/2 though so she gets in by herself, washes her own body and her own hair. I only have to go in there at first to turn her water on and adjust the temperature and then when shes done to help her get out....Every now and then she still wants to take a bath, but not real often.

Alexis showers with me all the time... it's gotten to the point that I can't shower alone... she also takes baths the odd time, but it's mostly showers.

I took Ian in the shower with me once or twice and he just completely freaked out. Screamed and thrashed around. We haven't done that in awhile though I wish he would get use to it.

I have a very irrational fear of the secret dirt monsters that live in tubs, therefore, Chey and myself have always taken showers. I gave her baths in her little baby bath for the first month or so before I said screw it, and just held her in the shower with me. The only time she slipped she was 3 and it was cause she had way too much soap on, but I had a perma grip on her. Now, she takes baths about once a month maybe and showers every day.

me and xanny started doing showers quite awhile back.. it's way easier and saves water then me taking a shower.. and Brett taking one and then giving xan a bath.. so we just shower together every morning, he occassionally takes bathes, but he always asks for a shower when given the opportunity to choose.. he's getting to wanting to take his OWN shower though because he likes having the space all to his own.

I usually give my daughter a bath but sometimes i give her "mini showers"
i just have her stand in the tub, i turn thre water on and use a cup to wet her whole body, then i later her up them pour water over her to rinse. she loves it and calls it a shower. i wish i could give her a real shower but i cant adjust my shower head and the way it sprays the water wouldnt work for my daughter.

Hah this thread makes me think of when I was like 6...that's when I took my first shower, it had been baths until then. I was horrified of the shower, I thought it sounded scary and I hated it.

Now that I'm older, I can ONLY take showers because I (like rosie) am totally freaked about those secret dirt monsters.

We do either or here depending on the day and how busy I am. Hunter, Roary and Paige really go either way. Some days they'll shower with me (not all three at once, at most two, and usually my sister is outside the bathroom ready to help take them out and dry them off while the other one hops in). Some days they do bath for play time. Natalie is only two months old, so we do baby baths and in the bathtub with mama for her.

So yeah, we go either way here...

I think you should let them continue to take showers. As long as they're getting clean and they seem to enjoy it better than taking baths, why not?

My son likes showers with me or alone. I prefer a bath for him 'cause usually water gets evreywhere and it makes a big mess. That is the only problem I have with them though. They are faster, and yeah they do seem cleaner too.

Amber, Matthew, and Dylan all take showers. Dylan saw his brother take one and he wanted to take one too. He loves it! Teresa still takes baths.

Only baths for my kids until they are 3 or 4. I think they will be better able to handle showers then.

to kill time, sometimes i bring lyric in the shower with me and she loves it. sometimes she wants me to get out. while i am getting dressed, she stays in there and plays and finishes cleaning herself. she loves it and i am right there, so if she falls or anything i can grab her right away. but i still give her baths...

Laerin hasalways taken baths. the child is part fish and will stay in there until she looks like a prune. Sometimes i wish she would take showers because they would be faster, but she is terrified of them for some reason.
I dont see any reason why your kids cant just take showers as long as it doesnt bother them.

My kids, 5 and 3 , really love to shower. I can totally trust them in there. My older daughter can be trusted to clean herself when she is in there on her own. My youngest needs lots of help. But when I put them in together they do really well. I say go for it. Your kids are about the same age as mine, I think. They are old enough to be able to stand stabley in the shower.

Amile takes a bath every night. It's part of her night time routine. I'm not sure when I will let her take showers.

I found that once the two oldest kids were old enough to bathe alone, a shower was better. They tend to just sit in their dirty bath water forever instead of really getting clean.
