poetry exercise

Anyone wanna do a fun little excercise? Try it and post the results!

fold a piece of paper in half lengthwise. On one side write a list of completely random nouns (people, places, things, or ideas--Rome, pillow, bathtub, etc..) and then on the other side, think of a role or profession and write a list of verbs (actions words--run, bite, fall, etc..) that go along with that profession (say you pick "teacher", your verbs might be "lecture," "write," "grade," "assign," etc..)

Then pick some nouns and pair them with verbs you wouldn't have otherwise thought to (like, Rome assigned me the task of dreaming/The embroidered pillow lectured my sleeping ear..."

Here's mine:

The bathtub sucked the oil from my skin
as I waited for you
While the faucet pounded me with warm white-water
that teased my dancing toes
And yesterday's coffee mug sighed at the sink,
the steam reminding her of
hot breath, wet lips, and
morning's thirsty mouthing.

I deviated from just using verbs and sometimes used related adjectives instead. Anyone wanna give it a try?
