I've had heavy, heavy periods for as long as I can remember! I have to use a super plus tampon and a pad because my tampon ALWAYS leaks. I read somewhere (webmd.com, maybe?) that if you bleed over a certain amount (I forget how many tablespoons), it's sign of something abnormal. I thought this was a little strange...
How heavy are your periods?? Am I the only one who bleeds this much?

I think that my flow is pretty light. With a DivaCup I can actually measure it - which is something I find fascinating, and I typically only bleed about 1/4 oz/day of menstruation, which is 3-4 days for me and this is with a copper IUD which typically increases flow.
I also have a really heavy flow..and it really does my head in..coz i usually bleed for 6-7 days. I think everyone is different xx
My flow is pretty heavy in the beginning.. and lasts about 9 days, though the last two days are a bit lighter.
Then again, I've never had a normal period in my life. I used to go 3 months without one, and that was just the norm for me. When I was on depo I had one short period.. and now that I'm on the pill, I wonder if I'll be regulated and what the flow will be like. It will be strange to have one every month.
It depends for me. When I was on the depo - I only had one HEAVY period during the whole 2.5 years I was on it. Now with the Nuvaring (which I LOVE) mine are very regular and I will have about 2 heavy days and 2 to 3 normal/light days. I have never measured though. Like Revolt said - I am going to get the divacup and will get to measure it...
my peroids are light and always have been for the first two months of getting my period when i was younger they would last 5 days now my periods 2-3 days.
i also have never experienced a cramp while having my period is it like a leg cramp but in your gut? :?
Revolt, is the DivaCup very easy to use??? I kinda wanted to buy one...
I've only had it for two cycles, and I feel that I have it mastered. I think it's quite easy to insert. Getting it out is the trickiest part, but I think I had it figured out by the end of my first cycle with it. There was a thread a bit ago about help with getting it out, and I posted it there.
I'm forever referencing LJ communities, but the community menstrual_cups (http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=menstrual_cups) has a lot of good info. Also be sure to check out their site, divacup.com. It was invented in my city. 8)
I bleed for 6-7 day's, i'm not sure how much though, but i do know it's been lighter since i started wearing cloth pad's instead of disposible one's.
That info is great...I think I'm gonna go get me one of those....I definitely like the environmentally friendly aspects of them!
its been so long since I've had a period (mine haven't resumed postnatally yet).
I guess I have a light flow, my period would go for 3-4 days. I never bled enough to warrant using pads at night.
And during the day I would go for a few hours tampon free in between changes.
Wouldn't mind trying one of them cup things when I do start up again though.. if they start selling them over here.
Maybe you order one online, Maja.
I don't have a credit card so I can't do the online shopping thing.
There's always the option of hassling hippie stoes to bring them in. I figure I have a few more period free months to do that in..
Funny, I don't know how to answer that question. The doctor asks me it too, but I don't know, since mine is the only period I know, how do I compare it to others to know if its heavy, medium or light? I've got the divacup so I guess I'll start paying attention to the markings that say how much is in it.
