I think pregnancy and birth is a fine place for this to be.

Any embarrassing moments thru your labour?
~BD kept rapping Ol' Dirty Bastard - it wasn't really embarassing... but funny - plus he kept getting all pale in the face and leaving...

Most annoying thing after birth?
~They asked me if I wanted a ham sandwhich and I had puked three times during labor...

First thing you throught when you held your child?
~I couldn't believe it - happiness, relief, scared all at the same time.

How long was your labour?
Around 11 hours

Any embarrassing moments through your labour?
Sometime after I began active labor my bowels decided they needed to be cleared out, so I had to pretty much run from the hospital bed to the little bathroom while everyone rushed behind me not knowing what was going on. I had to go with the door halfway open, in front of my mom, my BD, my sister, my doula, and the nurses. I guess it wasn't so bad considering I was about to give birth in front of them, and I know they'd seen worse, but I was still embarrassed!

Most annoying thing after birth?
That I couldn't hold my daughter right away. I so wanted to be the first one, but there was a lot of meconium and they took her over to clear her out first. So, my BD and my Mom held her first.

First thing you throught when you held your child?
I was just in awe that I'd done it. Stunned amazement. All I could concentrate on with any success was her little face.

~My water had broke before I got to the hospital and the nurse asked me how many pads I had used...and I hadn't used any. I didn't have any at the house (totally didn't know I'd need them after the birth anyways), so I'd just been using toilet paper to catch the "flow."

Most annoying thing after birth?
~Trying to pee! I had an episiotomy, so if I peed, I then had to use the little squirt bottle to rinse with and also use those tucks pads.

First thing you throught when you held your child?
~Oh my God I did it! And then I thought, why won't she stop crying? The whole time I was holding her she just bawled! Made me feel like a bad mommy right away!

Re: Few Q's and A's..

How long was ur labour?
M- around 14 hours
J- my wife was in labour for 33 hours, poor dear. Probably why it was my job to have the next kid!
T- this is less clear cut. From very mild beginning to end 12 hours but felt like labour for only 5, was hard work for only the last few hours.

Any embarrassing moments thru your labour?
M- No. I supposed if I'd cared I was fully expecting to defecate anyhow, having being raised on graphically detailed birth stories! Nothing made me feel shame, but I believe that the midwives and doctors I encountered durng my labout should be and large feel ashamed of themselves for the horrendous and disempowering way they treated me.

Most annoying thing after birth?
M- being stuck in a hospital, still being treated like shit.
T- I knew I was developing a uterine infection, one of my midwives (who is well respected and prominient in the MW community) didn't think I had an infection as I wasn't in much pain (I reported pain but she's used to whingy upper class older women not tough younger things!), and I had no rise in temperature. Also I had no 'offensive discharge' quite the opposite my lochia stopped abruptedly only a few days after birth. I knew something was wrong, my instincts told me it was a uterine infection, as did the fact I felt sore and bulky. I suspected my other midwife suspected that also, but as she was younger and less established as a midwife she didn't want to contradict her mentor, but she did eventually diagnose me when she saw me alone, and it was confirmed by my doc). I have since recommended that younger MW to a few folks and she will be attending my housemates birth.

First thing you throught when you held your child?
M- everything felt still, I thought he had enormous hands
J- I pulled the sac off him, he was born in the caul. "so this is you!" He looked so damn peaceful! Holding him in my arms, bursting with pride at my wife, the cord still attached from him to her. In awe at her for how she had birthed, and what a beautiful creature she had created.
T- after my happy wonderful intense and pain free water birth I was rushing, peaking with amazing feeling "my baby! my baby! my baby!".
