Hi! Ok, before I sound rude, this isn't meant to be discriminating!! Anyhoo, I just wondered how many of us kidless ally folk there are on here. How did you find the site? Why? How did you come to post as a kidless ally? I found the site back in the spring, when I thought I was pregnant. I was so happy and honoured to be so welcomed, and so encouraged to stay even though I am not a mother now. I really hope that I can be supportive and helpful. I have a lot of experience of babies and children, just not my own. The things I've learned here, both child related and otherwise, will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Also, you wicked girlmoms are welcome to post your thoughts on us...if you want.

Kidless allies...!?
I love the KA's on this site. You guys are all helpful, encouraging, friendly and supportive, some of the KA's on this site are some of my fave people :)
I don't post much anymore, but I've been around for a while. I stumbled upon the site by just poking around the internet and got interested as I read more.
For a very long time, I have wished for a child- something that has reduced me to tears far too many times becasue I know that I can't. Not yet, anyhow- its not my turn yet, for a variety of reasons. The parenting advice I see here-pro-breastfeeding, cosleeping, cloth diapering, delaying solids and vaccinations- are all things that I *never* would have known about- and this stuff is all in the back of my mind as I begin to think about having children in the next few years.
I am the first to admit, I feel like I can't give much back to the community. I don't know much about screaming, teething babies, or about how to deal with an asshole BD. I have grown rather attached to some of the women here though, and they continue to open my eyes, and help me unlearn.
When I thought I might be pregnant, I was searching online for stories of what its like to be a teen mama, because I didn't know if I'd keep it or not if I was pregnant, and came across Julie's site, got interested, and read almost the whole thing, and saw girlmom mentioned there. So I came here and got interested, and kept reading, and eventually signed up. Turned out I wasn't pregnant back then after all, but I'm pretty sure I'd keep it if I got pregnant now, although I'm not trying.
Erin pretty much wrote exactly how I feel.
There is so much I wouldn't know about, be educated about or unlearn, without this site.
When I first came here I thought maybe I was pregnant, it turns out I wasn't, but this website is full of awesome women that I like to be apart of it, and I try to help out as much as I can being a kidless ally.
I had been hearing discrimination against teenage mothers and I wanted to hear the opposite perspective coming from people who know it best. I fell in love with the website for so many reasons and have been here ever since!
This website has literally changed my life. It's the topic of my college admissions essay. I wasn't planning on revealing that to you guys until I got in somewhere, but I just did. I will post it on here once I finalize it.

I came here for a few reasons!!
I'm really really close with my cousin, who moved here a few years ago. She has a 2 1/2 year old babe, (whom I adore and spend as much free time with as possible!!!) and is very into "Hip - mama", attatchment parenting. I always wanted to be involved with childbirth as a career...so I was into anything she would show me about kidlets. She gave me her stack of feminist, baby rearing literature LOL....including an Ariel Gore book. I visited the Hipmama site for awhile before I realized there was a Girlmom....and I didnt join until a few months ago when I realized you could be a Kidless Ally and still contribute to the boards.
Also, I have a pile of family members who have babes...all under twenty five.
And a few years back I had an early miscarriage...I guess that's when the baby-obsession began.
Anyways, I LOVE coming here to read the posts and stories and just listening to everyone talk about their lives ( which is fascinating to me...I can handle the 2 1/2 year old for about 12 hours before I need a break....you guys are AMAZING!!!!! ).
Wow! I didn't expect such a positive response. I think, after reading these posts, I am feeling encouraged to be a more active member. Heck, you guys try and stop me posting! I feel so un~alone. Because sometimes, no matter who you may be, and how many friends you may have, you can still feel like the only person in the world. Im the same as everyone else.
Ive wanted a baby and wanted to be a mom since I can remember!!(Playing house at age 7, 8, 9 and ALWAYS wanting to be the MOM) heh I have a few friends who have new babies, and are new moms, or are pregnant, and they are always asking me to look things up online for them, I often come here first!!
Ive babysat newborns --> 11 year olds since I was 11 or 12. And even younger then that I always got to play mom to my cousins. I just LOVE babies!!
Im super interested in child health, pregnancy, and infant development. (Am going into nursing, not sure what feild yet but for sure wanting to work with children)

When I first came here I had seen a magazine article on teen moms and GM was mentioned as a resource to check out. So, lovin' the idea of mothering and wanting to be a midwife or OB someday, I checked it out. After reading for a bit I joined as a KA and began to write a paper for my sociology class using stories from the girls here. Right after that I had a pregnancy scare, but remained kidless. I still stuck around because I was learning and unlearning so much. I wanted to help with any knowledge I had to share, but really I learned so much from GM's. Now, I'm a single soon-to-be mama, and I plan on turning to this site for support those sleepless, crying nights I'm sure are ahead! :wink:

I'm a girl-mom now, but I came here as a KA. There was an article or something in Redbook and it interested me, so I popped online for a look. I've been here ever since. I don't post much these days so I'm not sure if any of you remember me.
If it means anything, I remember you!
I too am not an avid poster because of my not so boring anymore life.
I came here when I was pregnant back in January, but miscarried in Feb. I had been thinking about having an abortion, and a few of the mamas on here helped me. I had chose to keep the pregnancy, but it didn`t work out that way.
Since then I`ve been pregnant again, to only have another m/c.
I don`t post much, because I`m intimidated by posting. But I like reading everyones posts, especially in the SJ forum. I`ve learned alot from reading old posts, and that`s why.
The women here are truly an inspiration to me, because no matter what, if you girls fall, you get back up again.
So, no post, but I read alot. Maybe if i wasnt so scared and shy (hah) id post more but I guess I have to work up to it.
I originally came here when I worked under a grant for the department of health on teen issues and media influence when I was in college. We would occasionally get a call from a pregnant teen asking where to turn for advice. I found this site and think it's a great place for advice on being a young mom. The best advice/info that I found anywhere in fact. I try not to post too much but I like to throw in support here and there.

I found this site after my sister got pregnant at 19 and had my first nephew(if i recall properly) I was 12. It's one of the only sites that welcomes kidless allies. I now have two beautiful nephews and I still come here from time to time :)
