Personally Id rather wear none at all but I know ive got to support them!
I went and got fitted for a maternity bra last week cos I didnt think I fitted my old bra too well...I was right too, Ive got from 12B to 12DD. You probably have different brands over there but I got three, one was Elle McPherson Maternelle and two were Bendon Maternity. The lady fit me properly and said they looked perfect etc etc so I bought them and wore the Maternelle one home, but about 4 hours later my shoulder was soooo sore I had to take it off. So I took it back and told them I wanted a 14 cos it was too tight. She said Im too small for that but she let me try it anyway. I now have 3 14D's and im so much more comfortable, the fitter said they'll be fine, but the other size is more ideal for me.
The two styles I have are

and http://www.ellemacphersonintimates.com/products/rangen.asp?rangeID=443
For those of you who dont know those brands. But the maternelle one is weird sizing so I just got three of the bendon ones.
I HAVE NEVER had this much trouble getting a bra to fit! The selection is crap to begin with, theres like 3 choices. And I think they all come down too far, like the band sits really low at the bottom? And theyre soo big!
Anyone else have bra issues?? :) Maybe its just me.

I have had bra issues since I was 12! But I'm a little confused on size, are you very petite? Bra sizes usually range from about 28-44, as in I'm a 40DDD (huge!).
i was wondering that too. But i just figured it was because of the area where she lives. I have wore a 36C for as long as i can remember. But i know that i am MUCH bigger than that. I need to go get fitted too! I wear Victorias secret bras and i LOVE them. They are so comfy. I watched Oprah a while ago, and it was a bra episode and they refit the women on the show. And most of them jumped from like an A to a C. It was really odd, and kind cool. SO many women aren't fitted right when it comes to bras.
Yeah, I'm a doofus, I keep forgetting that Gossamer is from New Zealand, sorry!
I wear la senza underwire bras....nothing too exciting.
With this pregnancy ive jumped from a 36c, to a 36dd...and im still growing. I wish these things would stay!!!
gossamer - did you get these from farmers???? or where???? and what size do they go up to ? I'm 14E and have been having trouble as most go up to d or dd i had proper lingere shops they are so expensive my size :(
Oooh, you got the same ones as me :) I went and got 4 (one of the lacy ones and 4 of the granny ones) when I was barely 10 weeks pregnant, and I've been in them ever since. They're SO much more comfortable.
chontelle - I got mine from the Bendon store in Porirua and ended up paying $160 or so for 4 that will take me right through until I stop BF'ing. There are heaps of Bendon stores all around the country (see here).
pixeldust~ looks like i have to travel to aucks or hams , i know they sell them at farmers i think , i have seen them there but they normally never have my size so ive rung and emailed asking if they do , thanks heaps for tht list though .
Sorry, for those of you I confused, a 12 is the same as a 34!
Pixeldust-comfortable? Really? So which one do you find best? The maternelle one PULLED A MUSCLE in my shoulder! What the hell!!! So now I cant wear any bra for a few days. Thats the bra I took back, but im still not totally happy with my bendon ones. You dont think they sit high under the arm, and low on the chest? In a way that feels tight? Its so weird because I was properly fitted for them.
Chontelle-I got them from a Bendon store in Auckland, at the moment its buy 2 get one free in maternity bras, so it only cost me about $90 for my three!
I feel kinda silly for having not known this.. but a really great tip I read for when buying a new bra is to make sure it fits when the hooks are on the outermost link, that way, as you wear the bra in, you can slowly move the hooks inwards, and maintain proper support. So by these standard, the best bra is one with a minimum of 3 seperate hooks.
here we go, the big positive to the actually pregnancy: BOOBS! Can't wait for that in a few years (or whenever we have an "oopsie!") I'm a lowly 34B now
--Kris :(
I'm horrid with that. I feel uncomfortable w/o a bra, but the ones I wear do NOT fit me at all. They're ones I bought near the end of my pregnancy, so they're a 34C. Without pregnancy hormones and lactation, I'm back down to a 32A, but I haven't went out and bought new bras yet. It doesn't fit at all, but it gives the illusion that I still have boobs. I figure soon I'll have to go get some that actually fit, but I hate bra shopping.
i am very happy with my bras. They are very comfy and soft. They are on the more expensive side, about 40 bucks for one. But they last forever. and they don't hurt shoulders, back, anything. i love them. i wouldn't advise buying them while pregnant, just becuase you will most likey out grow them. I am plannig on getting some new ones at target. My sister gave me some nursing bras that were a 34c. And there was NO way that they were going to fit me, i wore a 34c before i got pregnant. i haven't gotten any more yet, but my cup runith over. SO i think it's about that time! Do maturity/nursing bras run smaller then normal bras?
Man, this killed me to find.
I always have such a problem with search engines.
If you need fuller support, I think these are very cushy. www.yesbreastfeeding.com
No underwire, very supportive, comfortable to sleep in if you so desire.
The sizes are kinda funny, but they explain how to figure it out.
sweetest_d that doesnt really work with maternity bras as mine have like a million hooks. So its an entirely different situation.
My maternity bras ARE expensive, they have NO underwire, and are recommended as being soft, comfortable ETC ETC BUT THEY ARE NOT!!
I have a feeling maybe Im just too picky? Im used to wearing smaller bras, like ones that sit low under the arm and are high up on the chest, so these are not making me happy at all. They are completely new territory.
I have got to go get some new bras. The ones I now have hurt me to wear they are underwear and my boobs are so sensitive that I go do what I have to do come home and take my bra off. I hate it. Any suggestions? for a good VERY soft maternity bra. :?:
ugh...I HATE not having underwires. I LIVe for tight clothing--it's a comfot thing for me...like a security blanket
--Kris
Gossamer - I fitted mine myself. I never quite trust anyone else telling me that something fits when it's uncomfortable. Hence I'm now in a 14C rather than the 12B that she tried to squeeze me into.
I'm in the boob tubes at the moment though and letting my ladies be free and easy. I seem to get less stretch marks this way, anyhow :)
Yea I'm not so sure they fit people properly...
I went and bought two Berlei Barely There Bras, theyre perfect. Supportive, soft, structured. Theyre not maternity but Ive decided screw maternity bras, if they make me as stupidly uncomfortable as they have been, theyre not worth it!!!
Mine havent gotten any bigger since I became pregnant! I am still wearing all the same bra's as before. I bought one without underwire just for comfort but in the same 34B as always. I think they were slightly larger in the first trimester but once I reached the second trimester they went back to normal.
Can I just say you are so so so so lucky.
I am really sore.
I hate bras. Or, I hate my bras. I think my real problem is finding a nicely fitted, push up one, and even then, sometimes they're not really comfortable.
I'm all for the comfort, and since I practically have no boobies whatsoever, I live in my tank top with another layer around my breasts so I don't wear one.
I think mostly my problem is finding one that actually fits properly.
I have the same problem. I find an A is much to small and a B is usually to big. I go for the B because I would rather it be roomier than squishy.
