In the first few months after a babe is born, establishing and maintaing a good nursing relationship can be tough, especially for those who have little to no support with it in real life.
How many new mothers are overwhelmed when their babe comes, and feel that they just can't deal with breastfeeding on top of everything else? There's latch problems, supply problems, times when you just want to give up. I've seen so many women who have felt that they just couldn't do it - but now GirlMom is offering a way that you CAN.
Taking care of a new baby and trying to take care of yourself as well can be time consuming, how many new mothers are swamped with questions they might have - but with no time to go and look it up, or no clue where to even look for the answers?
That's where a buddy comes in.
We're gathering a list of women who are volunteering their time to be a breastfeeding buddy. What do buddies do? Well, if you have any questions, it's someone you can ask and get some answers from; either they'll know from experience, or they'll be able to have some time to look it up FOR you. It's also someone you can vent to, get advice from, anything you need in order to establish your milk and work towards establishing the great breastfeeding relationship you want.
Why do we do this? Because too many women who WANT to breastfeed, do not have the support to be able to do so. We believe that breastfeeding is the optimum way to feed your child - the benefits of breastfeeding are endless, both for you and your child. We'd like to ensure that women who want to breastfeed will be able to, and in a world that doesn't offer much support for breastfeeding in life, we'd like to be the online world that offers you the support you need to be able to do it.

I'd love to be assigned to a breastfeeding buddy.. I'm determined to make it work this time, and I'm sure I'll face some challenges considering she's a preemie and all. There wouldnt happen to be any buddies w/ experience nursing a preemie would there?
i am not sure if i qualify, but i would be someones buddy. i have breastfed, my daughter is 3 months and i breastfeed only for about 2 and now supplement. i can help with latching and pumping questions, anything related to nursing bras, pads, increasing milk supply, ect.
I am also happy to be a breastfeeding buddy if you need any more. I've been nursing for about a year and a half, and have worked through a bunch of different bfing issues w/my babe.
Id love to have a breastfeeding buddy. I have support just nobody in my family has ever breastfed. It makes asking any questions kinda hard.
Are we still doing this? I'd love to be a buddy! I breastfed my oldest for 20 months, and I am currently breastfeeding my 8 month old. No plans to wean until she's ready! If anyone wants a buddy you can PM me or whatever. I don't really know how this works.
I have a spreadsheet that I use to match people that PM me looking for a buddy, I'll add you to the list.
I'm not trying to be a pain (sorry), but I was wondering if I was added to the list? I am not sure how popular this has been, and if you have had a chance..so I was just wondering. This is something I really am interested in, and I hope not to miss it! :D
