He won't sleep at night..

Okay, I'm getting severely sleep deprived and frustrated.. my son (he's 3 weeks) won't sleep at night.. he sleeps most of the day and I can't keep him up for the life of me, then he's wide awake a good chunk of the night.. I'm lucky to get 2-3 hours of sleep a night.. Any suggestions anyone, PLEASE?? I keep getting people telling me "just let him cry".. umm I'm sorry.. not going to do that.. there's got to be some way to get him to get his days and nights straight (and so mama can get a little more sleep)..

your son is still on his old schedual. your baby is more active when you are not. so all day your motion has soothed your son asleep but when you lay down at night in the womb your son probably was pretty active. the only advice i can give you, sleep during the day time. i got this advice and never took it, i got very frustrated and wish i had just simply done it. i was in such a rush to get my daughter on my schedual it wore me out. your son will soon learn to be awake in the day and sleep at night, regardless of what you do his internal clock will slowly adjust. even if you try to keep him up during the day he will not sleep more at night. its just one of those things your need to ride out. im not kidding if you sleep when he does. you will get enough sleep, it will make everything run smoothly if you are not stressed. i know i used to spend my daughters nap time cleaning and getting a jump of my house work but after a few weeks i was so exhausted i couldnt do anything. good luck sweetie

I would try keeping him up more durring the day I know its hard. Chloe still slept 20 hours of the day until she was like 2 months old. You sleep when he sleeps. Are you nursing?Cosleeping?

I've tried t5o keep him up more during the day.. but its pretty much a fruitless effort.. if he wants to sleep he'll sleep and thats all there is too it..

He has a cradle in our room, but we've pretty much just been co-sleeping since he was born (that started when we were still in the hospital).. I'm also nursing him somewhat ( he gets a bottle too)..
