Tracking Your Cycle

I think it's a great idea to track your cycles.

Both your menstuation and your ovulation. Not necessarily as a form of birth control or whatever (I wouldn't reccomend that unless you take a class and are consulting with an expert, ovulation tracking based bc is MUCH more complicated than they say it is in all the books,) but rather, just to know what is going on with your body. It's good to be cued in when something is up so that you can talk to your doctor about it right away, even before you get noticable symptoms.

You can keep a journal and jot down when you get your period, how heavy the flow is, what the consistency of your cervical mucus is, what your basal body temperture is (if you have a bbt thermometer), your mood each morning, all that good stuff. If you're not a journal person, mark it on your calender, keep track of it online Here, or figure out something else that works for you. When something is up with your reproductive system it helps if you know right away, and if you have all your specific cycle information for the doctor, ready in a journal, it could help with identifying what the problem is exactly.

I'm making this post because I think cycle tracking is a really useful thing to do, and not many women do it. Just trying to get the word out. . .

I track but I use rythym for BC so I have to but you're right, being intune with your body is important.

I chart my cycles, but I also use condoms and spermicidal lube, just in case.

I think its really important to be in touch with your body and understand the physical aspects of your hormone fluctuations.

I don't seem to be able to because I have a mirena and there isn't really any change. I'll spot every now and then but not on a regualr basis.

if you have mirena you might not be ovulating.

wanna second that especially with stressful lives, cycles can be tricky & not to rely on charting unless you are ok getting knocked up.
