My son!

My son is only a week and 4 days old....

Near the end of my pregnancy I had alot of problems, they knew they had to induce me right away...I was schedualed to be induced but luckily that same night, he decided to come on his own....Anyway, long story short...he was born very stressed, and he swallowed ALOT of meconium....I was also GBS positive and didnt get the antibiotics in time...He spent a few days in the hospital with major eating problems...he wouldnt feed no matter what. I was prepared for the worse, seeing him laying there with all the other critical babies with tubes everywhere, not moving...he even LOOKED sick. But, I was able to bring him home a few days ago as long as I kept an eye on him....
The first day or two was rough, but then he started to feed..and i mean ALL the time, lol....hes also soooo strong. He moves alot, can turn his head in both directions and hes even trying to roll over!!!! When you take the bottle out of his mouth to burp him, he grunts and will fight you and man is he ever strong ... is that even normal? I think I have super-baby......hes made such an awesome turn around. I cant beleive how he went from being a critical baby to this...I'm so proud of him. I still keep a close eye on everything but Im no longer as worried as I used to be...
Anyway, Im just kinda wondering if anyone else had the same situation happen to them?

I didnt have a similar situation, but I am glad to hear your son is doing better! My son was like that too when you would take the boob out of his mouth he would go crazy trying to find it! Its so cute.

My son!

Wow, I really can relate on a lot of levels. My blood pressure spiked my 36th week, so I was on bedrest for another week to see if I'd improve and when I didn't, I was induced that next day. I ended up having to have a c-section as I wasn't progressing past 3 cm.
I was GBS positive too, but my son did get his antibiotics. He was born breathing too fast and a tiny bit jaundice, but not enough to need the light treatment. He also wouldn't nurse for anything, and from a mix of stress, panic, and just a lot of things I won't get into, I switched him to formula, and he'd eat heartily from the bottle, but throw it up. The breathing they couldn't figure out, so here's my baby hooked up to all these monitors, but he didn't seem to be in real danger as his peditrician and the nursery workers weren't worried. I, of course, was in a complete tizzy. His fifth day, he finally started keeping down his formula though and got to come home.
Ha, to think I expected a newborn to be kind of dull. When he gets coordinated enough, he can get up onto one side and when burping, he just lifts up that little head and gruuunts. Makes you really work for those burps. My son is 5 weeks old now, but he's been doing all that since we got home. It just made me feel so much better to know he was going to not only be okay, but thrive.

ooo I'm happy your son is doing better. As for the super baby thing it must have to do with babies being born on Dec, 2nd lol. We can stick Jaylie on one side of the bed and within the next minute she has scooted herself over to me. haha it's so cute.
