My daughter is 4 months, not really rolling yet, but man does she move around in her crib! She wakes up all the time with her legs through the rails, not really stuck, but i can see that happening in the near future. I took out her bumpers becasue i was worried about her smushing her face against it. I don't really think that would help though. She isn't upset by it at all, she sleeps through it alot. Her crib is brand new, meet standars and all that so it's not "unsafe" persay. I was thinking about weaving like a mesh or tulle fabric through the slats but i don't know if that would be safe. do your babies do this? What did you do about it? She is my second one, but DS never ever slept in a crib! Thanks

My son has had his leg through the slats before but he is 1.5 yrs. If I see it through the slats i just move it back but I dont think its ever actually gotten stuck. I never heard of the mesh idea that you had but it seems like a good idea.
I would just suggest putting the bumpers back on.
Or, move her into a lay pen for sleeping
Oh, my daughter did this just last week and got a nasty bruise. I heard bumper pads were not safe??
ive only heard of bumpers not being safe at the point when they are pulling up and could potentially use the bumpers as a step-up and out of the crib. but if the crib mattress is lowered all the way this shouldnt be much of an issue, i dont think (at least not in my case). i too would suggest putting the bumpers back on, ive had bumpers on since my daughter started using a crib at 3 months old, they have saved her from some painful bumps, and keep her from sticking her limbs between the slats.
That is what I did.
When my brother was 2 (he's 13 now) he had a toddler bed and had metal guard because he was a crazy sleeper and always feel out. One night he got his leg twisted in the metal rails and had to go to the ER. He had to have several surgeries and had to be in casts and have phystical therapy on his leg. Now 11 years later, he's totally fine - but he still has the scar, which doesn't bother him. So I would put something around the railings (I don't want to scare you!)...
