Help with pastel "how to"

I got a friend of mine who's into artsy stuff some pastels and a pastel pad thing. I'm not sure if she's ever done anything with pastels so I'm looking for some "how to" directions off the net so I can print them off for her. I kinda stink at doing searches. If anyone has some time and couple find a good site that kind of starts with the basics of pastel drawing, let me know. I started to buy her a book at the craft store, but couldn't afford it on top of the pastels. So any info would be awesome. THANKS!

the best way to figure out how to use them is through experimentation.

if you lay oil pastels on thickly, you can create interesting effects by using a razor blade to scrape away at the applied pastel.
