You can use tums. I think they're also good because of the calcium. Yeah I had horrible hunger pains when I was pregnant. One minute I'd be full, and the next minute I felt so hungry I actually felt nauseous(sp?)

I didn't have the intense hungry feelings (I actually was the opposite.. I had no appetite..)

But I also had horrible heartburn.. I ate a whole lot of Tums, Rolaids, & Mylanta (all safe while pregnant).. and they also have calcium so thats a plus :) Also, it might halp to pay attentio to what you eat.. certain foods may trigger/intensify your heartburn.. I know for me, spicy foods and greasy foods made it worse.

Ohhhh...I remember that. Waking in the middle of the night just having to eat.

I agree totally with the heartburn remedies, and as for the middle of the night hunger, I found that if I ate something high in protein before I went to bed, I was much less likely to be raiding the kitchen at 3am.

If you can, eat a high protein snack before bed- it'll keep you full longer. It took me forever to figure out why I was waking up in the middle of the night- I was STARVING. I either end up eating dinner a bit late compared to pre-pregnancy, or I eat some nuts or nut butter before bed.

You do need a lot more food- your body is doing a ton of work!

For heartburn, try eating smaller, more freequent meals. Like, instead of eating an entire sandwich for lunch, eat half of it, then the other half in an hour or two. Try to figure out if there's a specific type of food that triggers it for you (caffiene seems to be a common one...). Tums are okay to use, but another rememdy (I hate the way Tums taste!) is to drink a shot of apple cider vinegar mixed with a glass of water.
