Raise Your Voice for Reproductive Choice!

Barriers to abortion such as funding cuts, parental consent laws, waiting periods, and attempts to restrict certain procedures are preventing women from exercising their constitutional right to abortion. Judicial nominations and legislative initiatives from Washington threaten reproductive rights.

Already, abortion services for young and poor women are unavailable in many parts of the country. Most hospitals do not provide abortions, few doctors are being trained to perform abortions, and attacks on abortion providers continue. Without access to abortion, there is no choice. Join us and ensure equal access to abortion for all women.

Here’s What You Can Do:
-Get informed. Go to www.saveROE.com and other pro-choice websites and learn more about current threats to abortion rights.
-Call your doctor. Ask her/him if s/he performs abortions. If not, ask why not, and consider finding another practitioner. If s/he does perform abortions, thank them and ask how you can support her/him.
-Call your local hospital. Ask if they perform abortions. If not, ask why not, and organize to pressure them to add this vital service.
-Call your elected officials. Insist that they not compromise women’s reproductive rights. Tell your Senators to vote against judicial nominees that are anti-choice.
-Speak up for an end to abstinence-only sex education and abortion restrictions, for the rights of women on welfare, and for accessible health care for all.
-Be visible with your pro-choice sentiments. Put a bumper sticker on your car, wear a pro-choice button, talk about the women you know - yourself, your sisters, your mothers, your friends - who have had an abortion.
-Organize! Encourage your friends and family to get involved by joining you in one or more of these actions.

I know what you mean! I have no problem with women who seek abortions. It's their body and I feel that they should have control. I work for Planned Parenthood in Colorado. Here, we have "parental notification laws" so no minor can get an abortion without the parents being informed. That's hard because...then some of these young women will try going to unsafe doctors, when it should just be available to everyone no matter what age!

I understand that people will go to any lengths to get an abortion and it's unsafe this way,but i still see it as it is a living being.......It has a heartbeat at 22 days, just because you cant see it doesnt give you the right to ignore that it is a life.Im sorry if that is harsh. But i also know there was a time in my life I would have done the same because of the situation. But to me it is still a living soul.

We don't care if you think it's a life at day 1. We don't. Thanks. but we don't need anti choice rhetoric here. This place was created as a safe space for women who are/had an abortion. If you don't like that, go to another website. --Side note: GOD I wish people would READ the mission statement before they started posting. Oh hey link in the sig. Lets try reading it.

Please Find for me in the agreement where i Have over stepped my line,.Here are some things I found. But maybe Im just blind to your view and don't see. GirlMom.com is a politically progressive, left-aligned, pro-choice, feminist website. Girlmom.com intends to support young mothers, of all backgrounds, in their struggles for reproductive freedom and social support. We encourage all young mothers to speak loudly and boldly of their experiences and choices, in the hope that young women of future generations will feel more secure in doing the same. We support any reproductive choice a young woman may make, including aborting a pregnancy, placing a child for adoption or becoming a mother. We reject all ageism, racism, sexism, classism, and other prejudices and stereotypes. We are actively working towards creating an equal society, in which the right to bear or to delay bearing children is secured for all and all children are allowed to right to excel and thrive. We support the right of others to choose to not bear children and expect similar support and respect for our choice to become parents. We encourage debate when it is employed in an effort to open our minds and broaden our horizons. We discourage debate when it silences or tramples over the voices of mothers trying to garner support and advice. We allow mothers the opportunity to express their opinions, experiences, stories and advice in a safe environment. and we are a PRO CHOICE website. I understand this, that is why I also shared that at a time in my life if I had been I would have made that same choice to do so because of the situation. We don't care if you think it's a life at day 1. We don't. This statement makes me wonder if you yourself have taken the time to read the statement.some people out there may care and make thier choice based on opening thier minds and knowing all the facts about it and not going into it blind. Thanks. but we don't need anti choice rhetoric here. Please dont sterotype me I have already expressed that i was in a similar situation once and would have done the same.I believe we all have the right to freedom of speech and should have knowledge of our chioces before taking action.I do not believe I have been rude in any way But i do feel you yourself have jumped on the defensive perhaps because of your own choices and have chosen to be rude to me. This place was created as a safe space for women who are/had an abortion. I understand That, and I feel that All women should have all the facts and knowledge before making the choice, that is all I was trying to say.Knowledge Is power so I suppose ignorance is Bliss. If you don't like that, go to another website. If I am truly unable to express my opinion unlike the statement says then I would like an admin to let me know and I will go to another website. --Side note: GOD I wish people would READ the mission statement before they started posting. I understand your rules and Regulations, all I am asking for is how I posted anti choice when I fully admitted that at a time in my life If I had been pregnant, due to the situation I myself would have done the same, and how I have been hurtful by my statment in thinking that women should have full knowledge so they dont regret any situation in life,or how ive been anti women when I have said I understand the need for this procedure to be available but feel people should have knowledge.

Fact is: A fetus is just that, a fetus. It is in a woman's body and needs to be to reach the point where it can be birthed and be a baby. Women have the control over their bodies and have the choice to continue or end a pregnancy. You have freedom of speech, but upon registering at this site you agreed to the terms and conditions of it and that includes respecting the choice women have and the feelings and opinions of those who have had abortions.

Fact is: A fetus is just that, a fetus. It is in a woman's body and needs to be to reach the point where it can be birthed and be a baby. Women have the control over their bodies and have the choice to continue or end a pregnancy. Look, this is your opinion and this is great and I respect that.my only concearn is that people should look into it and know the scientific facts about when a fetus has brain waves, pain receptors and all that hullabaloo.I am by no means stating anti pro-choice I just feel women should have knowledge and not even about this. The more people know abouyt a situation the better the judgment that can be made. You have freedom of speech, but upon registering at this site you agreed to the terms and conditions of it and that includes respecting the choice women have and the feelings and opinions of those who have had abortions.I do respect that choice.as I have now said repeatedly I was in a situation once where if I had been I would do the same. All I am saying is people should have knowledge in thier choices before doing it.

please take this up in private messages. There is no reason to debate this here. There are MANY resources all over this site about why language like that is anti-choice. If reading those was not enough explanation, feel free to send us messages.
