At my school... they tried to kick me out. but I busted out some legal terms and threaten a law suit and they backed off a little.. I had teachers refuse to teach me, gotten harrased my teachers and admistrators, and been jumped by students, and they wouldn't do anything about it... I refused to leave .

They said I would bring the schools rep. down and a whole bunch of things.. They told me I would become nothing, and wasnt worth teaching, they incouraged me to abort. They had me meet with the nurse once a month which was violating my person. They made me meet with a shreink and forced me to quit the clubs and sports I was in.. I had to get docters notes for everything .. including going to class.. had me sign like 5 waivers and a bunch of crap...

Pregnancy is a natural state to be in.. No-tolance can kiss my *** Just because some `people choose to start a family sooner than others in no reason to discrimate..

my school never officially asked me to leave... because i got pregnant in March of my junior year i finished out the year at the school and then started next year at the teen parent center... i kinda knew that they "frowned upon it" but i know a girl that i went to school with that took classes on campus until like a month and a half before she had her daughter... and then she came to the teen parent center for convience, because they would watch the babies so the girls can take class on campus!

That's fucking bullshit! They refuse to teach you and try everything they can to discourage you from continuing your education, and then they have the fucking balls to say that you are going to become nothing? People suck. I'm sorry you had to deal with that..

schools in Austin don't actively kick you out, but they do try and push you to the east side schools if you start off at a west side school. Not a single west side school has childcare, which makes it really hard to go to school, especially to go to school and bf.

Wow! That is ridiculous! My school never even frowned upon pregnant or parenting girls! They were actually suprisingly support of everyone we've had in our SMALL town school!

That is so crazy that some schools actually have "no tolerance" rules on pregnancy, like it's a contagious disease or a terrorist threat. At my high school, pregnant students were welcomed and given extra support to ensure they graduate. And we also had a day-care on campus for parenting students and staff. If you were very close to your due date they would send teachers to your house a few times a week, I forgot the name of that program. It is very common for people to have kids in their teens where I live, so I guess people are used to it. As a matter of fact, last year someone delivered their baby in the nurses' office, and two people went into labor during my high school graduation.

My high school had an on-campus daycare center for student-parents so they could continue school and visit/feed their children on break. Pregnant girls we're encouraged to stay in school. During my senior year, before I left school to get my GED, there was one girl in my English class who went to school up until the day she delivered and returned about a week or two later. I'm pretty sure she graduated with the rest of the class.

the school that they tried to kick me to was the communtie one which had none of my classes. ( the highest math they had was what I did in 8th grade(algebra 1))It also forced the parenting people to take certain classes which I had already taken (child development, nutrition, etc) The only daycare/preschool at my school is preschool 5y and up and the daycare is for immigrents ONLY!! I think that is so stuped. and wrong.. I had to bug a teachers to let me use there room at break and lunch for pumping, and even then she didnt always come thru.... Ugg... It is probably against the law to officailly kick a teen parent out just on that basis.. I would look into it for each state/proviedence/country.

I go to a school online for the reason if i did not i wouldnt be able to graduate. My local school makes it almost impossible to graduate. They would give girls extra classes just so it would be hard on them to go to school and be a mom. So once i found out i was pregnant i started going to an online school which is Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School. I love it my teachers call all the time and ask how im doing and if i need more time on things because im pregnant. They are very supportive and all of them tell my just to let them know if i need a deadline extended. They also have a teen parent support group at a local mall that I can attend.

To have a no tolerance rule for teen pregnancy is SO wrong!! I know that when i was in high school they let me stay and I was constantly seeing the school nurse and staff. While i was there they were pretty supportive. Well i had a REALLY complicated pregnancy and had to have surgery at 6mos pregnant. I knew it was coming up so i informed all the staff months in advance so that they could arrange a home teacher, which they give to all pregnant teens after they have their baby and it is optional. Well they didnt send out the home teacher and i had to go to school one week after surgery. After labor i had to go to school myself once a week to get all the homework and do it myself at home. FINALLY, like two weeks before i graduated, they sent the home teacher whos job is to get the homework from my teachers and lecture. She told me that my teachers from school didnt want to give me homework anymore and were very upset with me which didnt make any sense because i WAS doing all my homework!!! Well luckly she helped me out and assigned her own assignments for me and i graduated. I think it ridiculous that so many schools make it more difficult for teen moms to graduate instead of helping them out.

Yeah, I think so too. At my school, the teachers encourage pregnant girls to get abortions. The principal thinks pregnant girls will "infect" the rest of the student body. As if being pregnant was a disease. He actually said that to my parents and me when we were talking about it with him.

i was asked to leave my school at 17 because i was pregnant as it 'would have bought shame on the school'- i was just starting my A levels.i was told that i would fail in all that i do and that i had condemed my unborn child to a life of poverty and that 'it' would be unloved and unwanted.

the college that i am at now is ok but the child care is a little messed up.they give priority to the assylum/non english speakers and the under 16s over anyone else.i had a place at the nursery but they felt that i wasnt an 'urgent case' so they revoked my place and gave it to someone else.but luckily my husband is caring for our child otherwise i wouldnt have been able to study. It shouldnt matter where you are from as we all want to study and it should be first come first served like with everything else.

In the Uk we dont have home tutors from the schools as its normally a case of if you are pregnant then you are asked to leave and occassionally the local council will arrange for a home tutor for a few hours a week to come and tutor you but only if you are under 14,and then its only the basics maths and english and maybe if you are lucky information technology.

Young parents need more support and less of this whole lower class business. We need help to continue our educations to enable us to have jobs.

I went to a small town public school in Illinois and there were several pregnant girls at the high school level. None were kicked out and I never heard of anyone even being asked to leave. They were never removed from sports or clubs. One girl even played basketball throughout most of her pregnancy! No one even knew she was pregnant until she was 5 months along and by that time the basketball season was half over with.

I think its bullcrap that someone would be kicked out of school for being pregnant. There's no way that that could be legal, and if it would have happened to me I would have fought it tooth and nail and hired myself a lawyer...probably contacted the ACLU or something.
