My mom is the type of grandmother that's always itching to take the baby...she'll use every excuse in the book to play with Ayana..."i'll burp the baby", "i'll hold her so you can eat"...always trying to steal my bebe away!
Anyways, she was dying her hair one day (around the time Ayana was 1 month) and i went to take a shower...i told her specifically "don't go near Ayana cuz you have dye in your hair" and i gave baby to my dad. next thing you know, i come out of the shower and hear my mom playing with the baby! I could smell the fumes from upstairs and when I went down she was like face to face with Ayana, hair dye all up in her head. I was so pissed off, and my mom just kept saying "it's ok, it's no big deal". Her justification is that i painted my room while i was pregnant so it's ok for her to be around the baby with hair dye. Then a few weeks ago, i was playing with Ayana and my mom came in the room ready to snatch her away and again, her head was full of dye! I started yelling at her so she finally back away...so annoying!!
Anyways, I know I don't want my little one inhaling all those fumes, but what do you guys think about being around baby with hair dye? Am I overreacting?
I don't think you are over reacting at all. I can't stand the smell of hair dye because the stench is so strong so if it is strong for me it would be even stronger for a wee kiddo. The packet says do not inhale and to do it somewhere very well ventilated e.g. outside. And I know what the snatching bis like my mother-in-law and her daughter do it ALL the time and I get so irritated with it all. Just hold strong!
i completely agree with you there are the fumes cant be good for a little munchkin especially since she was so young and at the end of the day she is your child and it is your decisions and your mother needs to understand and respect that.
