Canadian Tax Credit for Public Transit Passes

Ok, I hope I'm not the last person to find this out.

But the government recently started a program which allows you to claim your bus tickets or passes and other such things you may need to buy to get to work or school.

So ladies, if you haven't already started doing so, Keep your old bus passes in a safe place and keep their receipts when you buy them aswell.

Here's the link

I just heard about it recently as well, anyway, keep your receipts if you buy monthly/weekly passes, and keep the pass as well, just in case.

That page won't load up for me, but I didn't realise that you have to keep the receipt. We've just been keeping SOs monthly passes, does anyone know if we can still claim them?

From what I've read you need the actual receipts themselves as well. They implemented it last July!! nice getting the word out there. I just heard about it a few weeks ago, and only reason I did is because Shoppers (where I usually buy bus passes) was sold out and I had to go wait in a long ass line at the actual transit office and they had a sign up in there.

Canadianmamma: Well according to the link, you don't actually have to hand in the receipts or the bus passes. They just want you to keep them onhand. Then, if something goes wrong they can ask for them from you.

So, if I were you, Id claim the ones you have and start keeping a reciept too. If they have a problem with you not having a reciept, then they can adjust your refund when the time comes.
