i was wondering when you girls started bathing with your children- if you do.
i was just thinking about how much fun it will be splashing with my little girl, and while she's only 2 months old, i don't think i will be able to now, but when is an okay time to start? when she can sit up by herself, perhaps?
any tips, ideas, stories are welcome. thanks!

bath time

I've taken Gavin in the bath with me a couple times, when he was around 4 months old. It was really nice, and I felt like I could get him a lot cleaner than in a little tub or leaning over the big tub. I haven't since, but I might again soon.
you could take her in now just to help her get used to it, but she would have to be more on your chest. Then as the months go on it could progress to more playing together.
I think when my daughter was about 2 weeks old i put her in the bath with me. I found she was so much calmer and began to enjoy bath time and like someone said lying them on your tummy is really good. She has now learnt to splash and so bath time is beginning to be a fun thing. I don't bath with her that often as I like my showers but sometimes putting her in the big bath can be easier.
my son started bathing w/me when he was very young. Like pp said, it started out w/him just resting on my chest and became more playfull as he got older. As long as the child's umbilical cord stump (what are those called?) has fallen off it shouuld be fine.
once Cae's umbilicus fell off I bathed him with me, I'd sit with my knees up and lie him between my knees. I was a good way to relax!
I've been bathing with Liv since her cord fell off and healed. I would keep the water level low enough that she could just lay on my shins. I'd also hold her on my chest and we'd nurse and stuff. I still jump in with her all the time for a quick wash. She has always loved her baths. Now we have bathtub crayons which are so much fun for both of us!! We have a huge tub so there's tons of blank space to draw pictures and words and stuff. I don't know who has more fun me or her!!
That's exactly what I did with DD. We have been bathing together ever since. I never bought a baby tub becuase i just felt it was a waste. It's so much fun now that hse plays and splashes with me. :D
WE love our bath time together.
I bathed both of my children with me all the time when they were little but now they are too big for that :(
I used to love it and the babies were so much more relaxed
wwo that sound like fun i should try that i've never taken a bath with my son
I have taken two baths with A so far (he's 6 days old) one with the cord still attatched, one after it fell off. I didn't know you weren't supposed to bathe them whe it was still on!
Bathing with him is great, though. He totally relaxes and just curls up on my chest like a frog, or lets his arms and legs dangle while laying back on my knees (with head support).
Chat, I was always told it was okay to bathe babies with their umbilical cords. Actually, a nurse fully bathed Gavin in front of me at the hospital. I've found that opinions on how to care for the umbilical cord are plentiful and diverse.
can this work with taking a shower? how old? old enough to sit alone? does the baby sit and watch while u shower, then u wash them? or do u hold the baby the entire shower? i like very hot showers so i dont thinkn this idea will work 4 me
man when Lydia was 2 months i was taking her swimming in lake superiour! bathing with you baby is fun. and i think they feel more secure.
well no. ok she was 4 months. haha
I started to put Kyla in the bath with me when she was about 9 months, but now that she is almost 2 she hates to be in the bath and only wants to shower with me, so I just throw her in with me and let the water fill up the tub while she plays and I shower
i take baths with jay even since he was a little baby. I love bathing w him and I wouldnt give it up for the world. its a bonding time for just me and him seeing as we live w seven people. As long as you hold your baby you should be fine just make sure the waters not too hott.
Ok, to the previous poster, you can stop that anytime now, it's really very uncalled for.
I deleted the spambot post. Just letting you know so that D'sMamma's post makes sense.
Yeah that whole spambot thing was very different for me to see, I never knew about all of that. Guess I'm kinda in the dark about some things...lol, well at least I know now!!! Anywayz:
I still have showers with D, some people don't like that I do that, but I think he's still young enough so yeah, but I've been bathing with him since he was like probably around 6 months or so. It's a nice time to spend alone with your little one, I would always just talk to him when he was a baby about everything cuz he would always listen and never judge me...lol!!!
We try to bath Julian everyday, so we dont really have the time/energy to bathe with him all that much.
I used to take him in the shower, but he HATES it, so we stopped doing that. I wont bathe with him, becuase I am pretty sure he pees in there. BD on the other hand, has not problems bathing with him. They go in, and do their thing...makie a big mess, and a lot of noise.
I was also told, that it was O.K. to bathe Julian with the cord still attatched.
I found that this is THE most effective thing to do with a clingy kid. Caeolen will NOT bathe or shower alone. I finally decided that I'd have to hold off on my semi-hot showers for a bit, or save them for when BD is around. But it's still hitting 2 birds with one stone!!! We're BOTH getting clean at the same time! :)
Urine is actually sterile...
I starting giving jailee baths with me at about 2 months.. now that shes a little older and has fun in there i dont put that much water in and sit with my feet in from of me and the bottoms of my feet together..so my legs make like a diamond shape and then her head rests on my feet and she can splash and play and i have 2 free hands to clean her with :)
