Your thoughts? Comments?
im personally offended by this.
not because of it being a campaign to prevent teen pregnancy but by the words and approach they use.
being a teen mom does not suck. it is fuken hard. hard work that shock alot mostly all teens. doesnt mean that it sucks. its hard and take a lot of effort, time, money and responsability.
i dont like this new campaign one bit. there are sooo many different ways to prevent teen pregnancy by not OFFENDED teen parents.

I hate the "pause before you play" thing. The "you think high school sucks" thing AND the "first set of wheels" are so incredibly stupid, it's painful.
it just irritates me that they don't even CARE about completely alienating, shunning, and disrespecting teen parents. It's no wonder so many of us can't get it together what with the media and general populace constantly shoving the message that we won't be able to, no matter what we do.
Why does preventing teen pregnancy always happen at the expense of teen parents? What's wrong with saying "yeah, you can do it. And you can do it well. But it's going to be fucking hard."
there's a pretty long thread about thins from a couple months ago. they really upset me and are really hard to contact.
yeah i remember but they changed thier campaign and i think for the WORSE!
 These Candie's campaigns are starting to get ridiculous.
What is Candie's, anyway? Is it an organization to prevent teen pregnancy? I thought it was a clothing line for some reason....
HAHAHAHAHHA!!!! me too!!
I think Candie's is a shoe company.
Their parent-company website has this to say about Candies consumers:
âI am one of the 32 million young girls and women aged 17-20, cool, independent and accustomed to affluence, I am an individual.
I am verging on celebrity â are you paying attention to me? You should. Iâm the trendsetter to come, an individual with an eye on the masses. I blend street and glam and hip with more style than Britney. And I have attitude to spare.
Hollywoodâs calling. So are the runways. I'll go to the biggest parties. Check me out, I'm buzz-worthy. Donât you want to be me?
I'm hooked up 24/7 to the heartbeat of the world through my cell, iPod and Mac. Feel the electronic rush of millions of minds pulsing together. I hear the beat, add my own and send it. Iâm part of the heartbeat, are you?â
Wow wonderwall... that is very interesting.
around here candies clothing and shoe line is big at a department store called Kohls (not sure if they are everywhere) but I definitely boycott it! That national committee to make teen parents feel like shit or whatever it is called makes me sick.
Oh good grief....like mentioning Britney Spears is going to make me want whatever they're selling.
Could Candie's be sending any more of a negative message?!
i like(not) the way they use the phrase "devastating consequences"-
like OMG im so devestated because i have to push a stroller instead of driving a sports car! my life is fucking over!
i think this whole thing is superrrrr anti-woman too. i feel like stuff like this is really anti-mother in general. i have some men in my life who are real mom haters for some reason. and when me and jeanie_j got pregnant and we were in our twenties, not even "teens" - we were looked down upon for continuing our pregnancies because it was "disempowering" or something.
like " i thought you girls were feminists? and were going to DO somethign with your lives???!!"
when in reality, we all find a lot of strength in being mamas even though it is hard. i wonder whose interests are behind this kind of campaign?
and what the fuck is so devastating?
Seriously! I got the same "if you were really a feminist you wouldn't be having a baby" shit. It pissed me off. Also, I hate it when people said things like "weren't you going to do something with your life?" or "but you still have so much to experience!" because, um, last time I checked I'm still living AND experiencing AND doing!
eww those ads are gross
Seriosly, I have written serveral emails to them about these things.
i love how it goes
your first ride?
picture of stroller
you got your girl pregnant now your pushing a stroller while your friends kick it without you. you'll never pick anything up with that
PAUSE BEFORE YOU PLAY
ok, if we're not supposed to be having sex, why would we be picking people up in the first place. it kind of makes me want to set up a parody site - prevent teen pregnancy, have homsexual affairs!
Um. I'm not getting a good vibe off this. Please let me know if I'm looking into that statement wrong, because seriously, not a cool thing to say, especially since we have some kickass lesbian mama's on here.
i am one of those mams in a lesbian relationship. it wasn't a bash.
im sorry but i know teen moms who are better parents than 30 or 40 year olds. im a better parent than my parents were. Im offended and yea, being a teen parent is hard, like someone mentioned before. but its hard when your 30 too. If people want to be good parents. they can be. its as simple as that. i think there should be a major push in advertising that young moms are sexy. and should be taken seriously. especially from a shoe company where young people are their consumers. i mean come on, whats sexier than a young woman that created a child, loves it, and gets so much accomplished by the time she is 30. im proud of the fact that im a young mom. screw candies. i think we should purchase a page in a magazine and put up our own ad on teen pregnancy.
