...after myself. My name is Kai (rhymes with "eye"). It's supposed to be a "boys name". In Hawaiian it means "sea" and in Japanese it means "leader".
To me, it's a cool-sounding name and it's different.
What do you think?
I thinking of naming my baby...

I thinking of naming my baby...

I like that name
It's my kiddos name! It's the latin though Caelo, which means heavens or skies.
I totally thought Cae was pronounced "KAY", as in "okay"
I love the correct pronunciation. About naming your child after yourself, do you know if you are having a boy or girl? Perhaps you could integrate your name into the baby's new name, like add a suffix onto it, or use it as a middle name.
I feel your pain- naming my daughter was the hardest decision. She didn't have a name until she was a couple days old!
thats my little cousins name and I love it!
go for it. definitly a great name :D
Any Rox- I'm having a boy. Everything I've read in baby books says it's a boys name. lol, I guess I have a "boys name". But I did see a few websites that said it was unisex. I was going to name him Nicholas, but now I'm tired of hearing it, haha. Nick this, Nick that. It's tough picking a name.
Adceala- I didn't know that's how you pronounce Caelo. I love that!!!! That is a beautilful name!! :D I thought it was "kay" too.
what about Nickai (nick-kai) or something like that?
My son's name can be split two ways so we can call him either. I chose the latter but we have the option or one or the other. I love different names and something that isn't common...
I think it would be awesome for you to name your kid after yourself. It doesn't happen often enough.
I like that name alot. I think it is neat. I also think its a cool idea to name your son after you. Dads get to name thier sons after themsleves, why can't mom's.
Charlie, I totally didn't know that was how you pronounce Cae. I thought it was pronounced C. I feel like a doof now!
Thanks girlz
And yeah, I agree. Why do "dads" get to have juniors, but not mothers? Hmm...
i love the name, but it might get confusing having 2 poeple with the same name, especially since ytou will have the same last name as well, you would never know what mail is for who. if you have the same 1st and last name. or if someone calls and asks for kai you won't know if they mean you, or your son. but it is a great name .
Me too! My Cae is pronounced like Kay-lin. Caeolen Malachy...and I thought Caelo was like "Kay-low".
Charlie- Cae is pronounced like it rhymes with eye? I totally thought it was prounounced like Kay. lol
I think that its cool to name your child after yourself. I sort of unintentionally did w/ Eric because his middle name is James and mine is Jane, they are close together.
Sorry to burst everyones Kay bubbles! Cae like eye. In latin the ae makes an eye sound, it's a dipthong.
I think that's an awesome name, and a great idea. I had originally wanted to name Finn after me too. One of my friends had suggested it (Hilary is traditionally a boy's name, too) and I thought it would be way cute, though maybe not worth the confusingness.
Thanks.
I still need a middle name for name for him. I should have mentioned this before but my name is actually Kaity. Same thing Kai (like eye) with a "Tee" at the end. When people read it most of the time they think its "Katie". But, ever since birth I've been called Kai. Kai is like my "real name" now. I really prefer to be called Kai, but there are still those who will use my real name. So, I don't think it would be too confusing because of that (mail ect.). He would just have a shorter version of my name really. Is that better?
hahaha charlie remember when we were talking on the phone that one time before I met you and you were talking about cae, and I was like, "wait, who's kye?"..and you were like "um, my son?"
I totally thought it was pronounced different too before that, how embarrassing.
newgirl, I think it would be rad to name your son after you. My mama is named after her dad and I thought that was pretty cool..
I think it's a great idea, and it's a great name, it'd sound super cute on a little boy. I can't see mail being a problem, cause I think you'd know whether or not your son should be getting mail from like the bank, or electric companies or whatever you get mail from ;)
Though I'm not sure how he'd feel sharing a name with a girl, even if it is a boys name, you know? Like if he'd feel okay saying "yeah, I have the same name as my mom.." though that could always be combatted by raising him to be proud of that fact.
I think naming babe after you is a wicked idea!! he can be Kai junior.
Adcaela, I also thought it was pronounced like "Kay". Way cool name.
Thanks girls. It feels good to have some positive feedback! Most people I've told like the name and the idea, but I was still a little unsure, you know. I think Kai Jr. rocks.
I think it is a great idea and a beautiful name!
