driving me nuts!!

When I got up, I forgot to look at the calendar. It must have slipped my mind that today is fifty million questions day!

No, you have not lost any teeth. No, you will not be a zombie if you die. Yes, you can have something to eat. No, you JUST ATE! No, a hot shower will not light your hair on fire. Because it's water. Yes, but even if it's hot it's still water and water doesn't catch your hair on fire. Because it's wet. Because I said so now get in the bathtub!!

Omigosh, tell me about it! Everyday is fifty million questions day in my house. When I just can't possibly take anymore of it, I tell my son that I have a headache and that he can't ask me anymore questions. It actually works, but then I feel bad. The other day he asked me, "Mom, why do you get so many headaches?" 8)

A trick for that that i try to use sometimes, because Eric asks me a lot of questions, is saying "what do you think?" when they ask a ton of questions. it gets them thinking and shuts them up, at least for a few minutes!

hahahaha!!! That is really funny.

I'll try that "what do you think" next time. Which should be about fifteen seconds from now.

That's funny about the zombies. Katie always asks me when we walk past a cemetary if the zombies are going to eat us.

Lyric always asks things like, "Why did he/she say that ... " or "What is this song about, what is that girl singing about ... ?" or "When and why is my hamster going to die... ?" then adds quietly, "I don't want my hamster to die." and ... "Mom why does your hair look like that ... ?"

lol, I know ... sometimes I am just like, you know, I don't know ...

LMFAO Cae always says "Why?" when I ask him something, it's so silly.

"Sweetie, can you go get mommy's coffe cup on the counter?" "WHY?"

"Because mommy wants to have coffee." "WHY?" LMAO.

Also, my little cousin used to ask my auntie a bunch of questions, and we used to call her 'Ten Thousand Question Kid".

Isaiah always says, "Mom... wouldn't it be funny if...." Then he goes on and on about some absurd situation. If I don't listen then he starts all over again.

DS does the same thing. "Why is that green?" "Why do I have to brush my teeth?" "Why is that girl alone? Is she sad?" "What is he wearing? (haha my personal favorite but almost always embarassing!)"

Zoe does that still. Only, her questions start taking on a level of impossibility to answer in a way she would understand.
The "what do you think?" has actually STOPPED working for me  because she says, "I don't KNOW mama, that's why I asked YOU."

So, now, I tell her the answers when I can and try and distract her into telling me a story instead. With stories, you only have to tune in enough to repeat a word or two, and say, "Oooooh" and she's happy.

Ha I was laughing out loud at this one, and had to cover my mouth because people are sleeping...my kid pretends hes a zombie...and tries to eat me...and he gnawls on my mom's ankles while he drills into her with his little fisher price drill. then he yells "tickle baba, eat the baba, come, mama, eat the baba!" ah...what a little weirdo.

Kids are so cute!!! These are making me laugh. Reese asks lots of questions, but luckily shes not my kid so i can tell her to ask her mom. But it will all come back and bite me in my ass one day when my kid starts talking!!! :D

you should just ask questions in return.

Quote:
will hot water light your hair on fire?

- no, will hot fire make your hair wet?

or

Quote:
did i lose any teeth?

"did you want to?"

or just respond totally randomly to confuse them

Quote:
will i be a zombie when i die?

"only if you go to zombie school"

even though that might just trigger "what is zombie school?"

but ya. i can see how that is annoying. especiallllllly "why, why? why? why?"

because
because
because

ill admit that i d this to just about EVERYONE. Even some of my friends at school. The best part is the "smile and nod" tactic works better on them than on my 6-year-old sister

Trey doesn't ask many questions but ponders on his own and talks out loud to figure things out and will repeat things over and over until we acknowledge him. For example, yesterday we picked up our new van, and on the way home he kept talking about how we had a new car and it was a big car, and look mama, it's bigger then that car and it's bigger then that car, and look how high up he's sitting and it's a nice car and it's his car, and oh red light, red means stop, red means stop, red means stop, GREEN! GO DADDY! GREEN GREEN GREEN.. yeah. and then all of a sudden he decided that because it's the day after Easter and it's new that must mean the Easter Bunny brought it. Long winded stories like that where he's talking to himself really, but will say each sentence about 3-4 times until I say "Yes Trey, you're right" and if I'm on the phone or talking to Shawn he'll say it about 40 times until I'm done and acknowledge him. Once in a while I'll be trying to have a conversation and he'll keep on going and I'll say "Trey, no talking" and he'll laugh and go "yes talking mommy" and keep right on with the story.

It's cute, and I'm not really going to discourage it, but yeah, tylenol is a staple in my diet. He doesn't really ask why for anything, if he wants to know something he either tries to figure it out on his own or he'll ask on his own later, but if he's figuring it out on his own you still have to be super involved with him figuring it out.
