I gave my son some green tea today, and he seemed to really enjoy it! But I don't know if it's ok for him to be drinking it...It would at least have to be decaffeinated, rite? Anybody know any good kinds of tea for younger kids? Thanks.

I give it to Deneven
Do you give him just regular tea? I'm worried a little about the caffeine in it..I don't want him to be jumping off the walls from a cup of tea!
I give him the Arizona green tea with ginseng and honey, I dunno, I think ginseng is sposed to give you energy or something now that I think about it cuz I see it in a lot of energy drinks. I dunno, I may be wrong though. I looked at the label and it doesn't say caffeine anywhere on it so I just started giving it to him...lol. Also, I make decaffienated iced tea and I put lemon in it and a little bit of sweetener and he really likes that too.
Lots of different cultures use teas as remedies for all sorts of ailments. (Many of which aren't always safe but...)
I think at two its okay. If it is hot tea I would watch the temperature of the tea. Either way caffine isn't good for anyone so I would watch the caffine levels in the tea (just as you would in soda).
btw I moved this to as the grow.
I'm a big herb fan!
I give Ais chamomile, lavendar, rosehip, green, and mild mint teas...
But they are always ones I make from herbs.
I don't think I would give any tea with any amount of caffiene until she was about 10 or so, personally.
I'd also be a bit cautious of pre-made teas... like iced teas... really read the labels for ingredients, and sugar contents.... natural or otherwise.
I've been giving Paige green tea for about a year. she loves it!
I think it's probably ok to give a toddler tea sometimes. Chamomile is mild and good for an upset tummy. I would be careful not to give green tea too often because it can interfere with iron absorbtion.
Mason enjoys sips of tea every now and then. But it's not too often that I'm willing to share. lol.
I give Zoe Chamomile and honey.
There are also a few lines of children's teas (non-caffeinated, etc.) which are really good. If you go to a co-op, or even a grocery store and look in the tea isle, they should have a few good ones.
I think that I would take it easy on the green tea, as well as ginseng, etc. I think that stimulants aren't the best thing for kids, and can throw off their sleep schedules like there's no tomorrow.
