Okay, ill start with my situation...
I live in Ocala,Florida
I'm 17, ill be 18 when i give birth hopefully.
I live with my grandparents , They have custody of me & my younger brother. & my grandmother works but my grandfather dosent(hes on disability) & me & my brother each get 130.00 a month from SSI from our deceased mother.
I'm not working anymore & havent been for the past month, If i was to apply for foodstamps, Would they total up our household income or my grandmothers or .. How do they do it?
& if i was to apply & get dened, When could i apply again, I expect my living situation to be changing in the next 5 or 6 months & i know by then ill def be eligble but im unsure if i should just wait to apply, although I could REALLY use the foodstamps now.
Any answers will be appreciated. :D

One more question.
I dont remember the exact words but friend once told me that if i went & applied after i gave birth, that if me & my bf weren't married/ living together they would make him give me child support, & i want to avoid that because he does give me money when he can & thats all i ask from him.
Has anyone else heard of this happening?
in CT they forced me to file for child support on my BD to continue getting daycare assistance. I did it because i saw no way around it plus he wasnt giving me shit.
But now its not mandatory.
Any FL mamas around to help/answer?!?!?!
Thanks =]
The laws change often in terms of cs. In Texas you have to file for child spport only if you get cash assistance. Everything else is independent.
ehh, Either way , im slowly not hating the idea of having him on CS.
I'm in MN and they made me apply for CS when I got daycare assistance. OF course, bd got all mad and was like, why didn't you just have me watch him... riight... anyway. As far as filing for CS goes, I think it is a good idea because you never know when he is going to just feel like stopping paying you, and at least if you have an order in place he will owe you for it and it is documented. And if you are trying to make it sound good to him, tell him that it will be easier for him to keep documented how much he pays you so that he doesn't have to worry about anything. On either side, if he is giving you money anyway it would just be easier for both of you to do CS and if he dissapears or something then at least it will be a little easier to get your money.
Florida Mama Here!! Ya, you have to put him on CS to get Foodstamps, or Welfare( cash assistance) but NOT medicaid. You are going to run into a whole lot of roadblocks for a lot of things if you dont put him on CS. Now you can say that you just dont KNOW who the father is and then they will give you assistance....but dont let him sign the birth cert if you are going to do that....i know it sucks
What eventually happened with this?
Well they told me i diden't have to give them his name but if i dident i would be denied medicaid for myself but i'd still get foodstamps & medicaid for the baby & shit i need my medicaid & so i just said f*k it & gave them his name, he dosen't seem to care seeing as how he just gives me the money anyway , now he just has to send it too Tallahassee & 2 days later i got my ebt card & alexas medicaid card =]
