lately i have really been getting into dried fruits like bananas and pineapples, but they get to be pretty expensive. does anyone know how to dry fruits are on your own?
ya thats the way you have to do it. you can also make jerky and stuff like that with it. otherwise the fruit just gets gross. i think the machine is kinda expensive tho
Look around in stores that offer more things in bulk, like costco or something. Dried fruits are expensive if you're buying just the individual packages but it is something you should be able to buy in bulk.
Although it's a good idea to even try to find a machine second hand or on ebay, if you're planning on having dried fruit in the house often. It's more expensive at first but it'll save you money in the long run, because it's something you can use for healthy snacks until they're teenagers.
mmmm. . . has anyone had dried mango? its pretty cheap you can get it at costco for like 8 for a giant bag. its soooo good! ian thinks its cady and constantly begs for it when we have it. which is fine with me at least he wants a good snack!
also, seek out local coops and markets- they are often really inexpensive with these things. at the organic market i work at, dried mango is only $3.50 a pound! and it is organic!
if you can find similar places in your town, everyone wins because you get awesome, nutritional food for less and you keep your local, small scale economy going.
awwww. . . i wish we had places like that. we live in a really small town and our choices are walmart and safeway. we just get it when we go to tucson to see my dad
