So, a very good MamaAlly friend of mine gave us bags of clothing, a complete set of bedding for a crib, CD diaper covers, blankets and other baby needs today.
I'd like to wash the clothes and try my best to get as much of the stains out of them as possible, as well as get rid of the smell because the clothes have been sitting in a garage for about two years and aren't exactly the freshest smelling by any means.
I'm not sure about how to go about the washing: I was thinking about using a "Free" type of detergent, wash once, then add a downy ball half full of vinegar to the rinse cycle of the second wash cycle.
Has anyone tried this?

That sounds like it should work! If it still smells afterwards, maybe do whatever most moms do to 'strip' cloth diapers, and then do it for everything.
Shout works really good with all of Baby stains that i have experienced!
I use Oxy Baby, when I absolutely have to....
But usually with fresh stains, I just get it off, and get it soaking in cold water ASAP.
The vinegar should take the smell right up, as well as soften everything up quite nicely.......
The stains though, hard to say, if they were washed in warm, they could be quite set.. so some things may not come clean.... anything that doesn't you could try hanging outside.... that usually helps.
