Do you let them watch much tv? I think I do probably more than I should, but I try to limit it. I do try to watch what it with them at least once so I know what my little girl is watching. One show that she and I both like is called Mustard Pancakes. It kind of reminds me of Mr. Rogers.

What do your little ones watch?

It depends on the age I think. I think kids under two should not watch tv. My kid doesn't, he's two and half. Although we are traveling right now in Mexico and he has become quite addicted to a Charlie Brown video. It's a hard trade off because I desperately need little breaks here in Mexico and a 20 minute movie of Charlie Brown gives me time to recuperate from all the stresses of traveling alone with a baby. I plan on going back to none when we get back to the states at least for a while.

My son, who is almost 3, does watch tv. He sometimes watches a show before daycare, and his favorite show is curious george and that comes on after daycare. Other than that, I try not to let him watch too much. Sometimes he'll watch a movie but I am also trying to make that be more of a special treat than a daily occurence.

I think TV, though has it's 'purposes' at times, is a mind wasting activity. Trey's just as occupied coloring and playing piano as he is sucked into the tv. We went TV free when he was born and haven't looked back since. He doesn't even know who 99% of the tv characters are. I like it this way, because then he's forced to find activities to keep himself busy, I'm forced to spend more time with him in a day then I might if I had a TV distracting him, and he's not sucked into the consumer mindtrap of commercials, and this way I 100% know he will not stumble on material that I don't agree with.

I allow my son to watch tv but its not cable.

I play movies for him.
All different kinds.
Fun ones, and learning ones. Sing alongs and stuff.

Ian went thru this faze when he turned three when all he wanted to watch was Dora, Blue's Clues, Backyardagins, Sponge-Bob, basically anything on Nick. But he didn't reallly watch t/v before then just a show or 2 a day and that was it. Now he watchs t/v in the morning when we're waking up for about an hour or so and then the rest of the day he's usually playing outside. Then he'll watch more tv before bed. He probably watches between 2-4 hours a day. It's a lot but a lot of the t/v at night is with us and he's not really watching it. More just sitting with us. Aidan is still too little. He absolutely loves music tho!

I just realize how much of a couch potato I make Vinnie. I do agree with alot of the mamas so much already. It just so much easier to let him watch tv so you can have a tiny break. I just do it too much and there are way better things he could be doing. Great ideas and thread!

We don't have cable, but if we are at my grandparents house she gets to watch cable as a treat. We do movies all different kinds, spongebob took a break because i couldn't stand the same movie over and over again.

Oh, I know, lol. I hate Nick for doing that. They do that with any movie they say premieres on one certain day. Chances are that even if you miss the debut, you'll find it replayed everyday anyways.
