A friend of mine just had her daughter vaccinated for chicken pox a couple of months ago, and it seems that her daughter is now getting the chicken pox. She keeps telling me that there is a 50% chance of contracting chicken pox from the vaccine, which just sounds waaaay off to me. Does anyboy know the odds? Also, I think her daughter was late on some of the shots (not sure by how much exactly). Would that change the effectiveness of the vaccine?
I tried to google this and I'm not getting anywhere, he he...

That is the reason why I haven't given Cae that vaccine, I am not ready for him to get the pox. My sister got them from the vaccine when she was like 15... no fun.
The younger you get the pox the better. Little kids just bounce back. I had it at 5 and didn't even itch. My friend had it at 16 and spent the week with a horrible fever and pox in his throat that made him throw up a lot.
I don't see the point of the vaccine unless it's an attempt to give them the pox at a young age so they don't get it worse when they're older.
Wow, so I guess it's much more common than I thought to get the pox from the vaccine. My friend (the little girl's mom) has actually never had them, so she's in for a hell of a ride..
I just looked it up and according to the websites I read, only about 15% of kids vaccinated still get chicken pox, but it is MUCH milder then if they were to get it without being vaccinated.
I had my daughter vaccinated and she didn't have any side effects from the shot. There's no way I could afford to take a week off of work to care for her if she ever did get them. Hopefully the drug companies will come up with a killed form of the vaccine. Right now it's a live vaccine, that's why it has the chance to cause chicken pox.
They were just bug bites!!!
I thought Gabriel might have gotten it too. I was really worried about it, because we are supposed to be flying back home in a week and wouldn't have been able to go!
Phew. Catastrophe avoided.
