I was the mom that would spend usually about $100 on my kids birthday presents. Add the party, and you were looking at like $150, and when your kids birthdays are 16 days apart, that gets hard fast. This year I decided that I was doing no cutsey theme from the party store, and they are having a joint birthday party. I am doing purple and blue, I was going to do pink and blue because my son DOES like pink, but I like purple better. I am getting the decorations from Big Lots or the Dollar Store, they will have dollar store balloons, ect. On to their birthday presents, I would usually buy an expensive gift that I hoped they would like. This year I got them a HUGE bubble tumbler with 3 wands included, and a big bottle of the bubble solution (it's one of those non-spill bubble things), and I went to Big Lots and got my son this gun that shoots out soft balls for $2.99, and Jenna is getting a helment. I KNOW they will love these gifts, and it's costing me significantly less. I am proud of myself. Some people may think that I'm being cheap, but I'm not bothered enough by that to do things differently, I am trying to stick to a better budget. That is important with the new baby comming.

Well, I think it's great momma. I've always thought that the actual gift isn't really what matters (althogh it does to kids!-lol) it's the fact that care. And I'm sure that they will a great birhtday, just as good as anyother, if not better. Smart thinking, momma!!
Being budget conscious doesn't mean that you love them less or that the gifts aren't as good, good job mama!
Chloe's only 8 mos, but she loves ripping up my junkmail almost as much as any of her more expensive toys! When it comes to buying toys Dollar stores rock b/c they entertain her as much as the expensive ones do.
Jenna loves hats of all kinds, and since she fell recently she needs a helment (just to be safe) when playing on the bikes and stuff outside. Randy has a helment, he got it last year for his birthday. I might get her a little toy, but other people will be giving her toys, so I don't really feel like I need to. She loves the bubbles more than Randy tho. Besides, she's only 2, so she dosen't really know anything different anyway. I don't feel bad about it, they're happy kids, and have everything they need, and a lot of what they want.
Oh, the party is going to be at a park. You just have to get there first. It's neat, you go in the morning, decorate it, and have someone stay there to keep it claimed, then everyone shows up for the party, you have the party, clean the space up, and thats it. I don't want all those people in my house again. I don't feel like shampooing my carpet 3 times to get all the stains out again. I expected that to happen last time, but I don't want to do that when I'm 8 mos pregnant.

Ok, I wasn't able to stick completly to it. I bought Randy a skateboard, and a pair of skates and a helment for Jenna.
