Quick Cash?

I know I posted about the couponing thing and how much money that saved, but I wasn't counting on this dilemma.

A isn't working this weekend, and we're used to him getting at least some overtime and have grown to depend on it. Due to severe weather he's had short checks (the power has gone out and they've sent everyone home a few times). Now we're going to be short for the rent check, need diapers and I'm scared that the plant they make the parts for is going on strike. That will mean alot more missed work, and we're already behind on bills.

Does anyone know what resources I can use? I've tried foodstamps before, but due to the overtime A was getting we made $12 too much. I'm sure we'd qualify if I filed again, but there is a month's wait and I can't file until Monday. How do you use food pantries? Are any open on weekends?

I just feel so overwhelmed and scared right now and don't know where to start...

That may work, I'm not sure how the grocery store handles stuff like that.

im not sure how you would feel about doing this, but where i live we have a plasma donation center (im not sure why they call it donation, cause they pay you for it). anyway, you can donate plasma and they will give you $20. you can donate up to twice a week, i think. after you have filled out all your paperwork, the actual donation process takes about 20 minutes.

I've actually really considered this, I'm just not sure if you can do it while breastfeeding. My husband tried, but since he got a tattoo less than a year ago he wasn't eligable. If I can while breastfeeding, I will.

If you apply for foodstamps and have little to no income, you could qualify for emergency foodstamps and they'd have them to you by the end of the week.
Are you crafty? Could you make anything and sell it quick? Could you have a garage sale?
I hate tough money situations...its one of the worse kinds of stress, IMO.

That's what I'm hoping to get, but if I can't the food pantry should work, I'm hoping this is a temporary thing. But if they go on strike.. that's the worry. I almost want to wait it out a bit, but then if I do and have to wait longer for assistance.. so conusing and stressful. I hate worrying about money, I try not to.. but it's hard.

Do you belong to any kind of church/other religous group or do your parents? Alot of churches/temples/etc have emergency help programs that give out food and other necessities to members in crisis. Also, my parents has a program that gives assistance in finding work.

Just something to look into. Some religious groups will help non-members, but they are a bit rarer.

Contact churches definatly. They usually have food banks for needy families or the have funds set up for if you need to pay your electric bill or water bill.
call around and let them know you have small children and need assistance.
