the dr told me to have a bag ready because my baby might be on the way really soon...and i did this so long ago with my son that i am clueless as what to have ready for me and this baby girl....does anyone remember some of the critical or well.... maybe just plain useful or helpful things that they packed for the hospital?

well I brought a 0-3 month outfit and it was too small, I had to have my mom go back to the house and get a bigger one! I don't really remember that much though other than that...
Well take some comfortable clothes for when you leave the hospital, maybe a nightgown to wear while you are there. When I left the hospital they gave me a bag with some little cupons and a bottle or something and had my daughter in a little shirt with a hat and socks. You might bring something for your baby to wear home and a blanket. Be sure to have your carseat available for when you leave the hospital.
Thats all i can think about!

Flip flops, maybe some travel things of shampoo, soap, etc. Big giant pads. Snacks. Maybe a nursing pillow. Oh! And Tucks in case of hemorrhoids. LOL! That's all I can think of right now.
Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy and soon to be baby!

I packed a duffle bag. For while in labor I packed:
Slippers
Robe
hair ties
hard candies to suck on
change for my hunny to get snacks
For while in the hospital and for going home:
mini shampoo, conditioner, soap, deoderant, toothpaste, and tooth brush cuz the stuff they give you sucks
heavy overnight pads
first trimester maternity clothes that are really comfy to wear since you will be really sore
flip flops
magazines to read
For the baby
a cute outfit. I brought a newborn one and a 0-3 months one in case she was either really tiny or really big
socks
a beanie or headband if its a girl
a binky although they give you one there. She wouldn't use anyother ones besides the hospital ones tho because she was on oxygen the first 18 hours and they gave her that since i couldn't hold her right away
a nursing/burp blanket
a heavier blanket
and of course her carseat.
It sounds like a whooooloe lot but it really wasn't considering all of thatstuff is pretty small. like i said it all fit into a duffle bag. They usually gie you a diaper bag filled with all kinds of goodies. It was pretty neat!
when i had my daughter i packed some really comfy pajama pants, a big t-shirt, socks, tennis shoes, bedroom slippers, nursing pads, nursing pillow, couple of bottles, preemie newborn and 0-3 months outfits(the doctor expected her to be real small even at 37weeks), heavy overnight menstral pads, shampoo, conditioner, deoderant, nursing bra, change of clothes for my hubby(he stayed with me the whole time), pacifier(just in case she needs it), 3 or 4 receiving blankets(in case she is too small for the carseat, like my daughter was), 2 heavier baby blankets, socks, little booties, brush and comb(if she has a head full of hair like my daughter you'll need them!), 3 or 4 pairs of underwear(believe me you'll need these in order to keep the pads where they should be), and dont forget the cameras!
that's all i can think of right now that i packed... like i said though my daughter was small even for a 37weeker, she was just 5lbs 15oz and 19in long and preemie clothes were too big on her!!! if i can think of anything else to add i will post again... oh and believe it or not all that stuff fit inside one duffel bag, even my hubby's clothes and stuff we packed for him too!
proud mama as of june 2nd 2007
I packed 2 bags for the hospital and used pretty much nothing out of them lol. The only things I really used were slippers, my own pads, the babys outfit to go home in and baby lotion. I never wore any of the clothes I brought for myself because it was easier to stay in a hospital gown and the underwear they gave me. They have clothes for the baby, and diapers, wipes and everything else. I used lotion because my sons skin was getting so dry his feet were actually cracking and bleeding but basically my bags ended up being a total waste lol. Oh actually, I did use the shampoo, conditioner, body wash and razor I brought for when I showered since the stuff they gave me smelled terrible =]
