Subchorionic Hematoma.....and Doppler..*privilage trigger*

Alright,

So this pregnancy is causing me many more issues than my first one did. Battling Hypermesis has not been fun, but finally, at around 14 weeks...the Diclectin started to actually work. Then, as soon as the nausea went down....I go to the bathroom to discover that I am bleeding. Blood this time. Not brown...red. Sooo...I go the emergency room....spend my entire day there (pregnancy bleeding is like LOW on the triage list...so I am the last to be seen). After an ultrasound, we discover that the baby is heatlhy, with a strong heartbeat...but I have this "subchorionic tear" in my uterus. That sometimes will bleed. I have no experience with this. I only bled for a day, and it has stopped again.

Any experiences with this? I hear that it's not to big of a concern, and that it just needs to be monitored....I just like to hear peer feedback, as opposed to emergency room doc. feedback.

SOOO...I also went out and bought a second hand doppler. I have been far to paranoid with this pregnancy, and its at a point where i am getting constantly anxious. I pick it up today or tommorow.
How often is safe to use? Once a week? Once a day? I can't really get a clear answer on that......Anyone have anything?

Thanks!

Dopplers should be safe

Dopplers should be safe whenever. As for the bleeding, I'm surprised its that low on the triage list. When I went in with the same thing at 15 wks, I bypassed every other patient in there. It ended up ok though, this was with my 2nd child and he's now 2 almost 3. I was especially paranoid because I had just had a late miscarriege at 14 1/2 wks only 3 or so months earlier. So to have something like that happen at the same time period. . . . . Anyways I was put on bed rest for a little over a week and then I had to go to my ob appts every week, then they changed it to every 2wks after awhile, and then I had 1 month apart appt before I went right back down to 2 wks apart. They were super cautious about it. It was sooo scary! Just take it one day at a time, and try not to do anything to strenuous and try not to stress too much. If you could see the baby strong and kicking and a good strong heartbeat I thnk the percentege of chance of miscarrige drop DRAMATICALLY. You should be ok mama, just take it easy! and as for hyperemesis thats also a good sign, they say the stronger the pregnancy signs also lowers the chnces. And Im so sorry for you having that. I had it with Kiara (my last one) and it was miserable, only I was stuck with it my entire pregnancy! I had morning sickness up until the day I delivered! It was horrible!! Good luck hun, and I hope all goes well!

I don't have experience with the bleeding or the doppler, but just wanted to let you know I read the post. Pregnancy stress is no fun. When I went into early labor it was super scary. How far along are you?

Thanks for the comments. I

Thanks for the comments.

I got the doppler today. I got to hear a strong heart-beat in my home, so I am calming down a little.

Yeah, to be honest, when I went into emergency they pretty much told me that there was nothing much they could do, and "these things happen", and pretty much prepared me for a miscarriage. I plan on making a call to my midwife this week, and trying to get an earlier appointment. Just so they can monitor this and such.

I am about 14 1/2 weeks pregnant. It's just soo stressful, because there are no "for sure" answers....and after suffering through the hypermesis, and the first 12 weeks....to think that you could be looosing it..its just horrific.

I wonder if the hypermesis could be a sign for a girl? Lol. I didn't have this with my son.....

First of all, the

First of all, the subchorionic hemotomas are fairly normal and don't cause issues aside from being obnoxious.
Hypermesis meaning agirl? I don't know. In my experience, boys usually make people sicker. But obviously not all the time. My first pregnancy- no sickness. My second, I was puking several times a day for almost 20 weeks. Both were boys.
I'm going to offer a counter opinion on the doppler. Dopplers are a stronger form of ultrasound than the visual ones(1 min of doppler is the equal to 20 min of visual ultrasound) and we do not really know the long term effects of ultrasound exposure. I would limit the use to when you're really feeling like you really need reassurance only. Especially when the pregnancy is in the earlier stages. It's important to just use sparingly, don't go overboard.
I am coming from the background of a homebirth midwife and we didn't use dopplers until 14-15 weeks and we'd usually use a fetoscope instead (starting at around 20 or so weeks).

What is a fetoscope? Yeah,

What is a fetoscope?

Yeah, i figured that it didn't make a difference with the puking and the sex of the baby. I was just making a hopeful statement! I guess the only way to tell is an ultrasound. I really hate the waiting, though!

As for the subchorioinc hematomas....they are VERY annoying. Lol. And the problem is, there seems to be so much contradicting information on the web, and it just eventually makes me more and more anxious.

Good to know about the dopplers. I will only use it if I am bleeding....I have fetal movement now, but its sporadic, and faint. When the fetal movements become more regular, I probably wont need to use it anymore, as I will be able to use that as a reassurance.

I never had any type of

I never had any type of morning sickness at all with my boys, and i had hyperemesis with kiara. So you never know! With all these signs, I wouldn't worry too much, especially now that there is fetal movement. But then again I know how hard that is, having gone thru it myself.

I don't have any experience,

I don't have any experience, but I just wanted to say that I read the post and I feel for you! It sucks you had to wait all day in the er. You would think that would be more of an emergency, but w/e. As for the morning sickness=girl thing, I have heard that and also I have heard that it means the fetus has a lot of hair but I'm pretty sure that is just an old wives tale, lol.

i had no morning sickness

i had no morning sickness with either boy and ian had a very fine dusting of light brown hair and aidan had a huuuugggeee amount of thick black hair. I've also heard that about if you have bad heartburn it means a lot of hair, and i had almost no heartburn except at the very end with ian and as i said he had very little hair, i had baad heartburn from about 5-6 months on with aidan and as i said he had a huuuge amount of hair, and i had the veeeerrrrrry worst heartburn with kiara, so bad i needed prescription heartburn meds. and it was so bad it wa making me throwup and with hyperemesis already it just sucked. but she had hair but not a whole lot, she was in the middle of the boys with the amount she had.

ive heard the hyperemesis means a girl thing because of the hormones, something about the added progesterone or something like that already on top of your raging hormones because of pregnancy. actually my ob told me that. he said its true about like 55-60% of the time, so not that much more, but enough that you can say that. when we figured out i had hypemesis (ended up in the er it was so bad, i found out i was preggo at 4 1/2 wks and then i hit 5 wks exactly and BAM!) first thing he said is i bet its a girl. i agreed too because my pregnancies were identical with the boys right down to the type of foods i craved, no morning sickness with them at all. then all of a sudden hyperemesis! blah!

I agree with Lizzo.

I agree with Lizzo. ULtrasound is considered safe, but has not been proven safe. The original studies were conducted in the 70s and 80s.... visual ultrasound intensity is now 8 times that, we are also using it way more. And as Lizzo said, Doppler is stronger than visual... :)

I will look up subchorionic hematoma and get back to you! :)

No advice on the bleeding or the doppler, but I wanted to let you know I read it and your in my thoughts. I can totally feel ya on the hyperemisis.. I had it with my first 2 pregnancies and it lasted my entire pregnancy both times.
