I've been meaning to read Atlas of the Human Heart (I love all things Ariel Gore) but I've been wary about picking it up b/c I'm worried it might plant a seed of wanderlust in me at a time in my life when I'm quite content to stay in one place. What's your favorite part about it? I may have to check it out soon, after all.
Adcaela - I loved The World According to Garp when I read it! It's been more than a few years, though, so I might read it differently today. Apparently there's a movie version, though I'm not sure I think of that as a book that would translate well to film. I'd love to hear what you think of the novel as you read more of it.
If you're worried about wanderlust, don't read it! It should come with a warning or something. LOL! I've never had more than a passing interest in traveling, and suddenly I find myself dreaming about all the places DD and I are going to go when she's older.
It's such a good read though.
Adcaela, you know the piece in the features section by Ariel Gore called Pregnancy as a B Movie? Ever read it and wonder the story behind it, like what was a teenager even doing living in Europe alone? This is the story. She goes on all these adventures and meets all these people. I found it really exciting and really touching too.
I finished it tonight. So good. The end was well done, although I found it a bit unsatisfying because I already knew how it was going to end (we all do LOL) and also because it comes from real life and we don't always get closure in real life. Like I wanted to know what happens to the other characters that she meets on her travels. She talks about thinking about them at the end which is great, but dammit I got attached to those characters and want at least a piece of their stories too! LOL!
I wasn't sure I'd like it, because I've read The Traveling Death and Resurrection Show, and it was a good read but not amazing, ya know? But my friend said this book is totally different so I borrowed it and I just could not put it down.
I have never read it. What is it about? Right now I am reading The World According to Garp and enjoying it.
