Massachusetts Resources

poking through several pages, I didn't see any resources for Massachusetts people so I thought I'd get a list started that we can add to!

one of the best sites I think is MassResources.org - provides useful information about a wide range of assistance programs for people in need living in Massachusetts. It provides information on what benefits are available, how to apply, eligibility requirements, benefit amounts, and answers to commonly asked questions. http://www.massresources.org

Homeless Youth - (age 14-24)

  • Bridge Over Troubled Waters - http://www.bridgeotw.org they have MANY programs including:
Single Parent Home- Bridge Eliot provides young pregnant women and single mothers with a safe place to call home. Moms can learn parenting and budgeting skills and get help finding permanent housing. Bridge staff assists with finding employment, daycare and/or attending school.
  • Youth on Fire - http://www.ccaa.org/youth_on_fire.html If you need general services I'd personally recommend Youth on Fire over Bridge. YOF is only a drop-in center though - bridge has more to offer... but it was started by catholic nuns and they hold tight to certain things like not distributing condoms, whereas YOF is funded as a harm-reduction program through cambridge cares about AIDS

Cloth Diapering
If you're interested in Cloth Diapering, Diaper Lab has a FREE workshop. they carry 25 brands of diapers so you can go check them out and learn about their care!
