Just wanted to announce the birth of my new baby! Ramona Kim was born yesterday, may 15th at 4:55 pm. She weighed 9#6 and was 21.5".
I went in Friday to the hospital for cervidil but it only dilated me to 1-2 cms so they sent us home sat morning and we walked around at the mall for about 3 hours. We came back that night for another round of cervidil and i was at 2cm and about 75% effaced. So they put the cervidil in and I went to sleep. I woke up at 1 am with contractions and by 3 they were really intense so the nurses checked me and I was fully effaced and 3cm dilated so they took out the cervidil and I got in the tub for a while which slowed my contractions and I was able to sleep for a few hours. They checked me again and I was still a 3 so they broke my waters. After that my contractions got really bad so I decided to get an epidural but I had to wait until I was at 5cm which didn't happen until almost 2pm. After that, I rested for about an hour and when the nurse checked me I was completely dilated! I started pushing for maybe half an hour but it wasn't very effective so they had me labor down for another 1.5 hours. Then they came back around 4:30 and I started pushing again and she came right out! I did have a 2nd degree tear on my old episiotomy scar which my doctor warned me might happen but other than that it went really well.
It's Funny because with E, I went in on a Saturday for cervidil, woke up around 1 am with contractions, got an epidural around 2pm and he was born at 5:04. So technically my 2nd labor was shorter lol. I even started pushing around the same time but pushed the whole 2.5 or so hours rather than laboring down, which IMO made things go much better this time around. I just think it's funny how similar my two labors were.
Ramona and I are both doing great and she is already a pro at breastfeeding. I was worried at first since I haven't cared for a newborn in so long but everything came back right away. Also, my SO is a great dad and it makes a big difference from BD who was not supportive at all. I will post some pics in the looking spot as well :D
