I've read that toddlers can have something called "night terrors", where they wake up in the middle of the night in a state of half-sleep and begin thrashing inconsolably. I think your little one is too young for that, though. She may just be dreaming. Starting at about two months of age my son began waking up SCREAMING for no apparent reason at all. I'd pick him up and desperately try to find a reason for his crying, but after about twenty or so seconds he'd fall right back to sleep. It scared the shit out of me. He's 11 months old now and still does this every now and then. I'm pretty sure it's a nightmare, or just a dream that for some reason makes him quite nervous. Can't really say. All I'm sure of is that it's HARMLESS. Hope this helped. :?
It's normal. I co-slept with RIII and he did that a lot. It will usually happen when they don't get quite the ammount of sleep that they normally do, they're dreaming, and the brain forgot to paralise the body first before going into the dream state.
