water in the ear? HELP

I'm about to go pick up Lucas from school, and take him to the same day care facility at the hospital, but was wondering if mamas had any info on whats up first. I want to avoid the hospital as much as possible, even tho I work there, because lucas is scared of it. Anyway, last night, in the bath, he got water in his ear. I had him lay on his side, massaged his ear, all sorts of stuff, but nothing worked, and he was a bit owie all night. By morning, he said he was feeling better, and wanted to go to school. So, I took him. They called and told me him ear was hurting. SO, any ideas on how to fix it?

water in the ear? HELP

YTou could try an OTC medicine for his ear if he has an earache or if hes saying theres still water in his ear that he can feel then you can try this (My pedi told me about this when kayla had a problem, and it seemed to be better after I tried this)
Take a boogie sucker thing and insert in his ear canal *not far just at the edge and the pressure will pull out whatever water may be in there.. then have him lay back down on his side (the ear with the problem) for 20 mins. all water should have came out by then

If hes still having problems you can take him to your pedi/ doctor ect and ask them to give you something also..

Goodluck Mama

Hope he feels better

water in the ear? HELP

He may have gotten an infection in his ear and need ear drops. If it's just water that's still in the ear, he could continue to sleep on that side at night to encourage the water to come out.

water in the ear? HELP

I'm not sure if this is okay for little kids, but when I used to swim we would put drops of rubbing alcohol in our ears to help dry up water in the ears. Actually, I know a lot of the moms would do this for the younger swimmers, so I'm pretty sure it is okay. It seemed to help a lot.

I found this link that has different "folk remedies" for swimmer's ear:

I agree with Bellywoman. A small drop of rubbing alcohol does it for me. If it has developed into Swimmers Ear get him to the doc ASAP because I had that two years ago and it HURT.

water in the ear? HELP

well, we went, when his fever reached just too high, 103. he had a slight middle ear infection, and the water gave him an outer ear infection. Combioned, they split his little eardrum, which was aready weak from having had tubes. My poor baby. We were at the hospital for 5 hours, and by the time he was taken care of, blood was running out of his ear. The doctor was a really young guy, but, I was so pissed off for it taking so long, and so vocal about it, I made him cry. I feel bad, he was really nice to lucas. So, hes on amox. 10 days, at 2tsp every 8 hours. thats a hell of a lot of antibots. but hopefully hell actually sleep tonight, cause grog knows he didn't last night.

hug for lucas. i had tubes and chronic ear infections as a kid. with tubes you have to be really careful about water getting in there.
