Cant Pump

THe only way i can get my mom to babysit so i can start bartending is if i have bottles pumped. I have a avent isis pump its a small one and i try to pump every morning when i wake up and before she nurses and i get nothing. ever not even a few drops. I try changing the position, pumping faster, pumping slower i try everything i can think of and still nothing. On a rare ocassion if i pump till my nipple is black and bleeding i can get about an ounce I use to be able to pump all the time. My breasts would feel full and i would pump. Now they never feel full I never even leak anymore (yay!) why cant i pump? could i be running out of milk?

pumping is really nothing like breastfeeding. don't worry that you are runing out of milk. i always had plenty of milk, and could never get milk out pumping.
have you tried pumping one side as she nurses on the other? pumping after nursing? could there be a problem with the pump? is that funny little flap thing in right? are you getting suction?
please don't pump until you bleed. if you are causing yourself pain, you will get more and more uptight about pumping and have further difficulty.
have you tried an electric pump? manual expression? sometimes i can get more milk with maunal expression, or at least get started and switch to the pump.

The Avent pump didn't work for me either. I gave it to my sis, and she loves it. I think it really depends on your body. Can you get a Medela manual one? It's called Medela little hearts, it's $20 here, and thats what I use and it works well for me. Your arm gets tired after a while, but it gets the milk out.
