I think I might have a kidney infection. A few days ago i went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a bladder infection. Now I feel like I have the flu, I have chills, fever a headache and my back kind of hurts, on and off. Is it a kidney infection? And if it is what r the gonna do to me? Oh and I called the doctor already too.
I'd imagine that they'd initally put you on a broad spectrum antibiotic, take a urine sample and do a blood test, and take your blood pressure. Depending on the bugs that grow from the urine sample, they may switch you to a more specific antibiotic.
They will also advise you to drink plenty of water, and take pain relief as necessary, plus rest if possible.
They may do further tests, scans etc, if this doesn't clear up, or you develop further infections.

I had a kidney infection, i've actually had a few. and if they diagnosed you with a bladder infection you may very well have a kidney infection now because it seems like ive heard that if a bladder infection goes untreated it can develop into a kidney infection which happened to me. I can't help you too much because every time i've had a kidney infection i've had kidney stones too and i dont really know what treatment was for what. but what the earlier post said about a broad antibiotic and narrowing it down to something more specific after a urinalysis sounds about right... i dont remember exactly what your initial post said so if i missed something i will post again!
