stray kittens

I took home 5 stray cats with me earlier. They were living outside someone's house and they were going to kill them. 4 are young kittens and the 1 mom. i wish i could keep them all but i don't have room. would it be better to build them a home outside or take them to the shelter? i think they would get adopted but i would hate to see them get killed if i could let them stay outside here. that's what they were doing where they were. i found a place to spay them for free but what else do they need? i dont have the money for a vet.

many places that advertize free spaying/neutering require you to pay for the shots, which is good for the cat and the population, but can be mighty expensive. Keeping them outside wouldn't be a fair because they might become too wild to catch later to get them fixed/shots... and it would be co1d and dangerous (other animals, cars, ect).

an anima1 she1ter wou1d at 1east give them a chance to find a good home. there are also cat foster groups in NY- I have a friend that was a 'foster mom' for a while- they would meet at Petco on the weekends to try to find homes for the kitties. Sometimes small 'independent' pet shop owners will take kittens, take them to the vet and get them their first round of shots, and then sell them at their pet shops. Call around. Kittens are usually pretty easy to find homes for- you might already know some people that could take one or two. I hope the Mama can find a good home too.

Maybe you could take them down to a store like Wal-Mart to try to give them away. People are always doing that around here. There is this thing called the Big Fix and they spay/neuter(sp?) pets for cheaper then the vet. We got our whole litter of kittens and the mom done for $80.(It was alot easier to give the kittens awway after that) If you were considering keeping them, keep your eye out in the newspaper for that.

well, i took the mom and 2 kittens to the humane society and the lady had already had people looking for kittens. and someone took the mom too, she wasn't all that big. and very pretty. so i'm happy about that. i kept 2 of the kittens and they'll spay them at petco for cheap when they get a little bigger. do they need their shots? and if so what ones do they need? thanks :)

if your going to keep them as inside cats, im pretty sure its only required to have them have their rabies vax. because thats what we do with our inside cats. also its good to have a feline lukemia check done, especially if you have anyother pets in the house besides these 2 kittens. and i think they also de-worm them, because most kittens are born with worms.
