I know there are one or two who go there and i have a few questions about it. I just turned in my registration & im hoping 2 get in. Here are my ?s
1 What is the ratio of male/female, black/white etc.
2 R there a lot of young/single moms, and r there any young mom groups?
3 is there student housing for families/single moms?
4 are there a lot of job options available for students?
well if u guys have any info that would b great. Thanks!

1. not sure on cultural numbers, but i think the m/f ratio is about equal. you can look on the website www.umn.edu/tc somewhere for other info...i'm sure if you search around you can find it.
2. not really a lot of young/single moms, but there are a few...there is a student parent help center (if you search the u of m site for "student parent help center" you will find it!). i don't have a link handy at the moment w/the kiddo on my lap.
3. yes there is student family housing! there are 2 different co-ops that i know of. if you want more info i can look it all up for you later tonight after my kid goes to sleep. the co-ops both have daycares on site as well.
4. there are many many work study positions and some non-work study positions available on campus.
what college did you apply to? i'm in the college of biological sciences.
if you ever want a tour of the campus or any information about it, let me or rebex (my roommate, who goes to the med school at the u of m) know! we will be lucky to have you there. :)
also, both of us have been through the financial aid jumps and hoops so if you need help with that we can hook you up. let us know!
how exciting, mama! so awesome!
i applyed to liberal arts college. I would love some info about the student housing. thanks a lot i will pm you when/if i get in and then maybe i will go on a tour :) thanks again
you need to put yrself on the wait list for student housing, i'm not sure the process but i have a classmate who had to wait a few months before housing was available.
i also go to the U of MN. its really big & easy to get 'lost' in. there are a lot of 'typical frat' kids, more than i care for. but there are lots of interesting political people.
try to get hooked into mentorship programs, find a good student organization, hang out at events & i'm sure you'll find a nich!
make sure to apply for grants & scholarships!
i think it would be a good idea to go on a tour before making a commitment to go there. just let me know whenever...it will be a kid friendly tour as i'll bring mine probably as well. :)
also to add onto what rebex said, yes, there are wait lists for the student family housing. i will try to remember to look up the links this weekend. they are como co-op and commonwealth terrace co-op.
