FASFA help!

I'm getting ready to fill out my FASFA and was looking at all the documents I needed, and it wants on your taxes. The last time I worked was when I was 17, I don't HAVE any W2s or IRS documents!! And my husband has worked 'sporadically' but never filed any taxes, and I know they'll want his info.

What do I do? If he calls his previous jobs, he can get copies of his W2s, right? But since he never filed his taxes, what am I supposed to do?

www.fafsa.ed.gov

go to that site, find the number, and call the government people to help you fill it out. if you don't have any w2s or anything you don't need to fill anything in for that.

your husband needs to file his taxes (nothing else to say about that).

and btw, if you're filing your fafsa for the fall of 2005 and spring 2006, you CAN NOT file before january 1, 2005.

i can help more if you give me specific info or if you want to pm me i can help you fill it out by phone or something. let me know.

Okay, is it still possible for me to file and get money to go to school this summer? I had planned on waiting until the fall, but if I can start earlier, I definately want to.

I don't have w2s, but he does - are they going to ask for his since we're married, or do they just want mine?

Can he still file his taxes now, so that I can get the form for my FASFA or are we screwed?

k first off i HAVE to correct you on the acronym...it's FAFSA (federal application for financial student aid...) many people get it wrong and end up on crazy con sites....just want to make sure you don't fall into that, okay?

and yes, they will need his information for sure.

it's possible to file the 2004-2005 fafsa for summer, BUT you will more than likely only be offered loans because grants are generally not offered in the summer because they've been used up by people during the regular school year.

and yes on him being able to file his taxes. and he NEEDS TO START DOING IT BY APRIL 15th, instead of putting it off and not doing it. him doing that can fuck you over, too, mama. good luck.

Thanks, I'm just going to wait until fall, then. I will make him file his taxes asap. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to get a financial aid package after you filed? Their site is vague and just said that it depends on how you file.

you will file through paper if it's your first time filing i think....you find out from your school what your package is AFTER you apply and enroll in classes. however, you find out how much your "expected family contribution" is a little while after you file. your application has to be processed.

just a word of advice.
for my fafsa ive had a hell of a time!
every document my finacial aid office has told me to send in the mess up and something has to be changed and they tell me the wrong things to send in. ive been going at this for 2 months and still dont have everything done!!!!!!
if you dont work you can file zero income and that should eliminate the tax info.

I know this is a little late, but about taxes . . .
You can still file taxes for previous years NOW. If your husband didnt make much money, you'll for sure get a refund,
and you only HAVE TO file taxres for income over $7,000

bettycrockerpunkrocker is right. you need to file them, though, because the fafsa people will notice if you file zero income for both you and your husband and will wonder how you live/survive.

If you fill them out by hand, or get someone at the schools financial office to fill it out for you, they can bypass the tax stuff.
When I filled mine out for this year, I had no tax info at all, because I hadn't been working. I had been living at my parents house, but I wasn't "officially" living there, so I had to bs my way around it.
The skool sent me a letter saying that I had to go up to the financial aid office and sign something saying that I had no tax info.
I think, though, that you really have to go in and have them help you bipass it.
