decrease in movement

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and i have noticed that the fetus has not been moving very much in the past week. Is decrease in movement normal towards the end of your pregnancy?

Thanks,
Melissa

That happened to me.... and my midwife recommened me to get Non-Stress tests, to monitor movement. It put my and her mind at ease. Also there is decreased movement because there isn't much more room to grow.

So yeah, give your Dr. a call, and hope you are doing well.

I didn't quite get to 32 weeks but as Latil said there is less room to move around I wouldn't worry too much but check with your doc to make you feel better about it!

Like everyone else said, it is normal for the fetus to slow in movement as you get toward the end, because there isn't much room. But you might want to callyour doc, better safe than sorry.

it is also normal for the fetus to stop moving as much because it is preapring for birth. if you go an entire day w/o movement (or if you go just awhile and are really worried) drink a glass of something with lots of sugar in it and lay down on your side. if you do not feel movement within and hour or 2 you may want to go ahead and call doc.

around this time you should be during fetal movement counting. some babies are faster than other. if i remember correctly, you should call your care provider if it takes more than 1 hour to get ten movements.

Thats what happened to me, i asked my OB and he said it was because the baby's bigger and doesn't have as much room to move. :)

Not to worry,
All these girls gave good advice, the exact thing my doctor told me. I'm approx 31 weeks, so I can relate. I always thought my daughter was maybe lazy hehehe. They are right though u might still want to check with your doctor

All the girls are right, it's normal to feel a decrease in movement near the end. If you're like me and tend to get ultra paranoid about everything, I have a suggestion that might ease your mind. It's only worth sinking the money into though, if it's seriously something that always stresses you out and is hampering with you mentally. A lot of stores sell fetal monitors, just like the doppler, where if you get really paranoid and haven't felt the fetus move in a long time, you can use it to hear a heart beat.

They're expensive to buy, around 500 bucks usually, but you can rent them from a lot of places, anywhere from 24-50 bucks a month, and since you'd only really need to use it the last few months, if it's something that is effecting you mentally it might be worth investigating.

Sweet Beats offers a lot of very good competitive prices, Stork Radio is a little bit more costly from what I've seen.

As well as look around stores in your area. I saw one in wal-mart when I was pregnant, that was a LOT cheaper then the ones above, and also turned into a baby monitor for after delivery.

If it's not something that's really effecting you mentally, then just don't worry about it and try all the suggestions people offered above, or talk to your midwife, because it IS perfectly natural to not feel much movement near the end :)

Thanks girls! I did go to the midwife and she said that he is healthy and that it is normal like all of you said. I did find out that he is breech right now so he needs to flip around. I am 33 weeks so they are going to give me a few more weeks and if he doesnt turn i will be having a scheduled c-section.
